should i have went down? i rode it after i installed the parts for about 10 mins on a new ngk iridium plug. when i checked the plug it was basically clean on one side and a lil black on the other.. one guy told me too lean..
what should i do?

That 240 main is actually still too lean for your quad. You will want to go to at least a 250 on the main, and probably up one size on the pilot as well. I want my engine to 'four-stroke' a little bit when it runs at full throttle under light load. Try a 250 main, leave the needle alone, and keep checking that plug.

You're right. Reading the spark plug is the best way to tell how close you are on the jetting. I say to increase the pilot at least one size, too, because the pod air filter yields a major increase in airflow to the carb. under all throttle slide positions. Not just closer to WOT, when the main comes online... Running the same 'ol pilot may cause engine damage due to idling too lean.

So I'll buy new pilot jets 1 size bigger and
maybee even one up from that
and I'll try a 250 and a 260 if still needed..
I wanna try to ride this weekend but don't
wanna damage my bike.
So going up in the pilot makes it richer??
Or the main too??

MY bike had a 45 pilot in it and I didn't even check. Wen I went down to the
nearby motorsports place he gave me a 35.. I told him I needed bigger. But me not being sure on the size i bought it. I need a 55 correct?

That's correct. You'll need the 55 pilot, and possibly one size larger as well, just in case. I'd also pick up a 260 main. The higher the number on a jet, the larger the orfice, and therefore the more fuel it will deliver. Larger number = richer. Smaller number = leaner. Simple. :D

ok not the same quad but 2stroke motors... ok i put a uni clamp on right off the carb and went from 240 to 300 just a reference to be close im gonna say you might have to hit a 270 just keep doing plug chops and run a tad richer than perfect just incase i rather be rich buying a plug every so often then shell out the $200 for a rebuild

I rejetted it from a 230 main to a 250 then to a 260 cuz that wasnt enough.
i stepped up the pilot from a 32.5 to a 35.
the bike used to bog if u nailed it all the way quickly or if u shifted too early.. which sucks...
once i changed the filter and the reeds the bog disapeared..
but it still runs lean... i took the k&n off and put my stock airbox back on because a buddy told me it was best to keep the airbox on..plus i got tired of not being able to ride cuz of the jetting...
i left the 260 in and the bigger pilot in and its still running lean....
the plugs almost clean after taking a 10 min ride...beside half of the plug having a lil black...
i run yamalube 32:1.....
ngk iridium plug...
im stumped... any suggestions?

i know! i thought i was trippin...
i think so im running a iridium plug maybee ill try a regular one...
well i was checking the rich/lean by taking it on a ride and pinning it out...
i went on a ride for about 10 mins...
it came with a 230 is that about stock? i just left the 260 to see what it would do.. and it still runs lean... something new too me..

I know it is an older thread but did want to point out that the stock for a blaster a 32.5 pilot so the 40 that was in it is a lot larger. Just throwing that out there for others that are looking to upgrade and read this. With an aftermarket exhaust as well you will need larger. Don't buy the vito's jet kit. It comes with a 30 pilot, and 290 main all the way to a 340 main. Bout useless if you ask me. I've got an aftermarket pipe, silencer, and k and n with a drilled box and the kit hasn't helped a lot. I am too rich, but have no throttle response for 1/4 to 3/4 throttle. Working with the needle for that but to no avail. I am buying a new pilot and a size smaller main.
