just wont idle.

i have just another quick question, that i dont want to start another thread for. when it was idling i put my hand over the snorkel for about a second and the engine died almost immediately. this suggests to me that the engine may be gasping for air. maybe i have adjusted it too rich? well for what its worth, it wouldnt idle at all before and at least it idles somewhat now.

Of course it was gasping for air, you put your hand over the inlet.

As far as richness goes, you are only adjusting the idle/pilot circuit. Think about it as your idle/throttle-response circuit. If your throttle response is good, and your idle is good, then that's all good. Monkeying around with this any further might make it idle better, but that's about it. Back out the air screw if you think it's too rich, and if it hangs again (lean) screw it back in a bit.

The airbox on Blasters are very restrictive tho. It sounds like you still have the lid on. Taking the lid off can really wake one up, but you will prob need to put in a larger main jet. (A whole new can-of-worms, but worth it if you don't ride in water)
