just bought this beast!

1,000 dollars isnt steep ( i see them on the craigs list all day for 1500 and on ebay for about 1000 the cheapest i've seen is OUT of MICHIGAN but im not traveling for one. ), i had it dilerved i receieved a fox racing suit and a fuel helment. I've ran next to a mini van ( my uncles ) and did reach 70, so believe it or not i know i did.

Another thing, this engine was re-built and is brand new so its not a bad buy and it was done by the manufactor's so if it was a bad job then it's on them not anyone else I:I

Also, it's just the breaking in sound, read about it more. I may not know alot about quad's but i know it's nothing to worry about also considering i mixed it too thick with oil so once i burn that fuel out ill do it right next time.

Idk really what was all done to this quad but im telling you all the truth, if i had a speedometer i'd record it but i dont.

EDIT:
THIS IS OFF ANSWERS:

a stock yamaha blaster goes 55 to 60 mph.

A stock 2004 Yamaha Blaster 200cc 6speed top speed is 61 miles per hour. I have tested with a odometer. A 2004 Yamaha Blaster 200cc with a .030 Big Bore kit, power reeds, FMF Fatty pipe and a Toomey muffler will do 73. That is the mods i did to mine.

Mine is .050, so there you have it.
i have a moded pipe as well
wheels are the same, but it dont bother me.
mines 6 speed
OH YE, it has a racing clutch to.

and before it was moded a little bit by the previous owner it was only doing about 55-60, tyvm.
, after modifications it definitely does 70MPH.

EDIT:

Also to back that up if your going to say ye a 2004 will go that fast and a 99 wont, read this:
http://www.epinions.com/review/2001_Yamaha_Blaster/auto-review-751F-5A6215F-3975E548-prod1

That guy purchased a 2000 in the year 1999 and put a muffler and front shocks on it and it was doing 70 with STOCK engine!
He also payed 3,000 Dollars so it's held its value pretty good throughout the 10 year's he purchased it.
dropped about 1,500 dollars now day's you can get a 2000 for about 1500.

So next time you come up in here, burning me when i've done absolutely nothing wrong to any of you in this community just do some research so i dont have to for you.

hate to break it to yah, but a .50 over only makes it so u ahev 2 more bores left, till i would get a new cylinder, and the pipe is stock, all blasters are 6 speed if u beleive it or not, and, a racing clutch will only make it engage faster and be stronger and not slip, if i tis a racing clutch, , it is stock, stock tires and all bro, srry to burst ur bubble, if u wanna have everybody shut up post a vid of u next to a car at 70 :) problem solved can u pst a pic of the silencer and the pipe close up, just so i can be shure....

lol you really dont know sh*t.
1) 1500 is way too much for a blaster of any year that is stock.
i have had more blsater go through my barn than most on this site, never paid more than 300 for one and always sold them for around 700.
2) you didn't go 70mph, here is that math to way you didnt
a blaster stock has a primary reduction ratio of 71/22
it has 6th gear ratio of .905/1
and it has a secondary reduction ratio of 40/13
stock that tires are 21" tall.
a stock blaster will rev to around 8500rpm
so using a simple math
8500rpm * (22/71) * (1/.905) * (13/40) = 945.84 rpm at the rear wheel
to find linear speed it is again simple math
945.84rpm * (2) * pi * (21.2in) = 62400.32 in/min
to convert that to mph
62400.32 in/min * (60min/1hr) * (1ft/12in) * (1mi/5280ft) = 59.9mph

so unless you change gearing, and allow the engine to rev higher, it wont go 70mph.
lets say you can rev to 9Krpm you can hit 63mph.
with a 14th front sprocket you can get to 64 (at 8500rpm) and 67 (at 9000rpm).
but there is something you need to know, you also need the power to reach that mph.

3) just so you know, having a .050 "big bore kit" is just saying you engine has been blow up a couple time. they are called over bore. you do them when the engine blows

4) an FMF pipe, power reeds, toomey muffler will not increase you power that much. you are maybe looking at a total of 22hp. also a "racing clutch" doesn't do much.

5) the slapping sound is not a breaking in sound, it is a breaking sound. on a good fresh rebuild, the engine shouldn't be making that sound. slapping in the engine is from the piston skirt hitting the piston wall from having a bad bore job or too small of a piston in there.

6) that looks like a stock pipe on there too.

7) i wont say a 2004 will go that fast because it also wont without good supporting mods.

8) how did you test top speed with an odometer? did you go 70 miles in 1 hour?

be nice... he is new...

but es bored .050 over wont increas power more than a .0002 of a hp.. top speed 58-60.... clutch.. racing clutch will alow more abuse to it... noisey motor is normal for a blaster.... everyone iv had had a noisey top end and ran tip top, typical air cooled motor.. you wanna hear rackey listen to the 70s dirt bikes...

i never heard of a .030 over big bore .050 over wont do anything for power. mines .040 over that slap sound sounds to me like to much pistion to wall clerence. a pipe and all that stuff wont make your top speed higher just makes you get there faster. oly gearing or bigger tires can realy do that im not trying to be an ass hole but thats things stock beside it was rebuild a couple of times. now if it had 240 bbk that would do something for the power but .050 wont just a clean up of the mess from the top end frying b4. if i was you id get the cylinder mesured to make sure it was done right but if you dont wana beleive none of us you dot have to. glad to hear you enjoy it thou make sure you read up on jeting i your gana do any mods or you will be rocking a .060 over good luck to ya.

actually a pipe will alow for higher top speed.. as in letting the motor rev higher :) pipe, filter and bigger carb will alow for higher rpms to be made and make power at the higher rpms wich will alow for a few more mph :)

o shizzle thats right but not to much of a differnce i forgot that a pipe adds that over rev or whatever thanks for correcting me lol

hahaha notta problem bortha! ... buuut a lrd, power pros,f7 will produce more over rev power than a fmf or toomey, but i dont think that extra 2-3 mph is worth it!

14/38 gearing and be done with it,

wish these motors reves like 125s.. my oll 84 cr125 reved to 11,500 :)

i dont have a camera to record with, or i would but i know i was going 70, it does have a new engine that was re-built and borded 50 OVER like i said.

I dont care to argue with you guy's i wouldn't lie about something so stupid, i mean come on.

what size sprockets does it have

it is bored, not borded. and it being .050 over doesn't mean sh*t other than you lost some of your cylinder wall.

and it isn't that you are lying, more than you dont know what you are talking about.

I'd have to measure it but it's dark right now i can get the dimensions for you tomorrow though. The closest i could say would be the front sprocket is about the size of a baseball and the back one a basket ball or a 3 liter some where around in that area.

But tomorrow ill measure it, i dont know what all was done to this thing but i knew the owner really good, infact it was my uncle's at one point, he had it re-built and boarded 50 over.

im talking about teeth not inches for it to do 70 its gana have somemasive sprockets count the front stocks 13 if it realy does 70 its gana be bigger thank count the back for more top speed its gana be smalled than 40 im sorry but i dotn see it doing 70 i think the gauge in that van is off

My uncle, the previous owner was driving down a cement road well i was on the side of it and he read 70 MPH

Like i said i wouldn't lie abut something stupid! And i dont care what it is, english teacher? I was speaking just fine with everyone else then you come in here thinking you DROVE my quad and KNOW it but really you dont know sh*t now do you?

Alright, im done talking with you cause i hate flames I:I

But really, if you think im lying you must be jelous lol! B)

Well i'll count them tomorrow lol but this is really stupid.

I was just posting my quad, telling you guy's i infact did go 70 and now im being harassed about it.

Lol, im just going to leave here.
