im using 35mm keihin pwk series. the bike has been bored to a 230 via vitos kit. im also running a fmf gold series pipe.

ok, i cant get the bike to idle worth a crap. any suggestions for a pilot jet? or jet combinations?

btw im in florida; so im at sea level.

thanx guys

are you talkin bout a vitos .30 over piston kit or a full big bore 240 kit????

On a Keihin PWK theres a slide adjustment screw. Make sure yours is adjusted properly. Try turning it clockwise to screw it in a bit and see if that doesnt help. Mine wasnt adjusted properly and it was keeping me from idling at all. No matter what I did to the pilot circuit or the pilot jet, I couldnt idle.

Once I got it to idle, I jetted my pilot circuit by setting the pilot screw 1.5 turns in, and playing with it to idle. If you have to turn the pilot OUT you are too rich and need to drop your pilot size, and try that.

For a base point to start, elevation is a big deal. The lower you are, the richer you gotta be. Good point of starting for you would be a 45-50 pilot. You MAY need richer, you MAY need leaner.

Im not bored to a 230, but I was running a PWK36 on mine, Im bored .040 over (so like 202cc LOL), and I was running a 120 main and a 30 pilot and my pilot circuit was great, but my main was too rich. Im at 4200 feet elevation where I live, so if youre closer to sea level, youre gonna have to adjust accordingly. Not to mention your engine will flow more air period.

Id start with a 45 pilot and see if you can get it dialed in. But in my experience, no matter WHAT pilot you have, on a PWK (unless its WAY too small), you should be able to get it to idle with the slide screw adjsuted properly, and making sure your throttle cable is adjusted properly.

-luni- youre amazing. thanks man.

im experienced with barrel and butterfly carbs but these slide carbs throw me a curve ball:P

rep points ftw:)

Thx guys. I learned what i know from the school of hard knocks and help from guys on here as well.

When I first got my Blaster it was running a 36PWK airstriker and that carb for a stock bore blaster is just way too big. The previous owner (my girlfriends dad) could never get it to idle properly. It never ran right. Always chewed through gas. Always had spooge coming out of the pipe. Its just been a huge thing for me to learn how these things work.

So, yeah, Ive spent hours on these things working with Keihin carbs. Im pretty familiar with the PWK series. So figured Id help out the next guy and get the info out there, so its in the search index.

So, were you able to get the thing to idle properly yet?

im getting closer. honestly i havent had the time between work and what not. i about to go fiddle with it again. ill fill you in as to how it turns out.
thanks again the help is greatly appreciated
