Is This Common?

Hi so i bought a 1990 yz 125. under the seat area theres a metal bar going across which is broken at one side and needs welded. i bought alot of spares today and iv got the same on the spare frame is this common with older models?

perhaps you should ask this question on a yamaha yz dirtbike forum. some of us may not be familiar with that model.

I think your talking about the sub frame being cracked? if thats the case then yes they are kinda prone to it ive had to get 2 welded in the past and i dont even deal with the yz bikes much. The last one was kinda tweaked to the right so my buddy tried to pull it back by hand and it broke under almost no pressure.

The sub frame can be found cheap for most years and its easy to change out if you dont want to weld it.

hi mate yes its the sub frame. iim going to get my mates dad to weld it for me as its just a bke for mucking around on when my quad is getting repaired. but im going to build 2 yz's out the spares
