Just put together a 91 Blaster. Runs fine. If you ease into the throttle everything is good. When you really get on it the RPM's increase, but speed does not. I did mess with the clutch cable on the handle bars........

Will a cluctch adjustment in the case help or should I get new plates & springs?

Readjust that cable.
It should be kinda on the lose side.

Sounds like it maybe to tight causing it to slip.
Use a quarter to test it.
the play between the clutch lever and the clutch perch should not be more than a quarter gap.

Good luck

Disconnect the cable and check to see if the clutch is out of adjustment by the 2 pointers.

This is one of the better features that was designed into the blaster that most other bikes are lacking.
