okay i have an 03 blaster with v force 3 reeds, vitos fat bastard exhaust, port and polished cylinder, weisco piston, bored a little over, air box from projectblaster.com, 35MM KEIHIN PWK CARB, the head squish has been redesigned, all work was done by kennedy power sports.

okay after i got the engine together i did the break in correct and ever since i got it running it wont idle. i can hold it at an idle with my thumb on the throttle but when i let off the gas it dies right away. im at about 5300-5500 ft elevation and i am running a 160 main jet and a 48 pilot yet. i have messed with both ends of the throttle cable and the idle screw on the side and cant get it to idle for anything.

please help i want to go riding!!!

i need a bigger pilot? i have never messed with the pilot or needle of a carb just the main jets. do you have any idea why i it dies right after i let off the gas? would a bigger pilot fix that?

and only move up to 50 from 48? doesn't seem like much change

Kennedy power sports? that's your problem! Maybe you have an airleak? Have ya done a leak down test? Plug chop? Checked compression? Cleaned the carb? Better check your clutches too as that builder is know to intetionally burn them out! Do those things then post back your findings.

Did you by chance do a TORS removal or replace the stock carb at the same time? I notice you have an 03+. If you didn't unplug and jumper the throttle switch wires, it will do this. Basically the throttle switch will kill the ignition when you release the throttle.

i think the problem is that you got engine work done by kennedy. you would want to go down on your pilot jet instead of going up because going up will make it richer and going down will lean it out. is the problem only at idle? can you still ride?

kennedy did the machine work and stuff and i assembled everything. i installed the 35mm keihin pwk carb at the time of reinstalling all the parts. it runs like a raped ape but doesn't idle. and yes i removed the tors system. and what wires do i need to jump or whatever?

And there you go. Unplug the throttle switch where it goes into the hood area and jumper the harness side.

On mine, I just cut the switch wires where it enter the thumb throttle. Then I shortened the wires down to about an inch before the connector and soldered the two together. Personally I hate cutting up harnesses, so it is reversible this way with the replacement of the throttle switch.

Not often I give guarantees, but I had the exact same prob when I took out my stock carb.

like i said in the first post i have messed will both sides of the throttle cable and no change except how easy it is to hold it at idle.

thanks for the replies everyone. i will put the carb back together and jump those wires and see what happens

okay i disconnected the switch inside the thumb throttle box and connected both wires to each other and also did it on the other side. and now my four wheeler isn't starting at all. wtf

okay went back out checked everything and found one of the ignition wires came just out of the connector so fixed it. kicked it for a bit and it fired up and now it idles. now to see if i have my main jet set right. and see if it runs well or bogs in the power band
