idle prob on new quad

hey guys im hoping i can get some help. im picking up a 2001 blaster that has a fresh top end and a stage 1 jet kit just instaled but it wont idle. it revs up and down and i dont know where to start. plus the oil tank was just removed and there is 4 wires hanging there now and the kill switch wont work. do i need to reconect these some how? any help would be great. thanks

no you dont need to reconect the wires for the oil tank whats done to the quad and did you try adjusting the idle srew

i would think there is an airleak, causing extra air entering the combustion process speeding it up, this makes sense with the fresh top end, a gasket might be off or faulty, or the intake could have a leak (reeds)

o wait i didnt think of that i thought he meant that it will rev up and stuff when you hit the throatle wow i feel dumb now makes more sense your way

Yup sounds like a air leak. you need a leakdown tester.

i ca almost guarantee thats the problem, get a leakdown tester from hoeshot on this site for $30 shipped and hook it up and you will find a leak

ok great. i will give that a shot. i didnt know if i should start with the carb or if it was a air leak. this is my first blaster i am picking it for my wife to ride and a back up quad for myself. thanks again
