Hey all.

I have finally the correct intake manifold etc. I bought a Snyder Motorsport from Fac7. The good thing about it is that the carb now clears the clutch arm.

Anyways I am still having a lot of problems getting it to idle.. Thats what i miss so much about stock carb.. PERFECT idle - never a problem.

I have the 34mm Keihin PJ... I think at this point its impossible to get it to idle.. I have tried to adjust the idle by turning the choke lever.. (idle control) and by adjusting the cable.. It runs "rough" in idle.. and if lucky can keep idle for a 1minute or so.. but will always "stall" shutoff or what u call it.

Other than that it runs great.

I REALLY annoys me! .. It cant hold a good idle by itself..

ANY ideas?

Try adjusting the air/fuel screw on the side of the carb.

Could be other things too.

Have you disconected the parking brake? make sure if you do to unplug the wires from the cdi itself. It could also be tors, make sure you did the removal right.

My TORS is removed with the old carb, and shorted with a wire.

I have never messed with the parking brake?

It idled perfect with stock carb..

They are tricky. I got mine to idle nice now. It's all in the pilot/air screw settings. What pilot jet are you running? Just for reference, I'm running a 42 pilot with the air screw about 1 turn out, but the air screw changes every ride, depending on the temperature outside (yes, they are that fussy!).

I just put a #55 in.. think its too big.. it seemed better with the #45 i have..

i KNOW mainjet can be different.. but what the average pilot jet in the keihin pj 34? ..

sounds like you pilot is too big..
what i would do is get the pilot jets 42 to 47.5 and then mess with each jet...
usually the way i go is that if you have to turn the a/f screw more then 3 full turns out the pilot is too small and if your under 1 full turn then the pilot is too big....
use this advise to find that perfect jet...
youll want it to be just a little rich so when your riding real fast and snap the throttle shut there will be some extra gas for the motor during decell..

GOOD LUCKI:I

But why are they that fuzzy? Is it a bad carb? Is Keihin a bad brand?

The stock Mikuni could hold idle with same settings in all weather.. at least mine could

The carb isn't bad, just the design of the idle adjustment. I also had a pj carb on a quad and the idle sucked, everything else was fine about it except the idle. Good luck in your quest to get your blaster to idle

Hmmm ok i guess ill have to try some more.. but that will be after my rebuild is complete of the chassis and bodywork.

Hey i like this heheh:

Chrome won't get you home but it'll get you laid

i just went down to a 152 main and 38 pilot and never have a problem w/ it my quad barely idles anyway....the airstriker 35mm is supposed 2 be much better
