ok here goes, my blaster had a small crack in the bottom left side of the crankcase. so i tipped her up and but some jb weld on it.left it tipped over night and put another coat on at lunch today.i noticed some oil dripped out of the tailpipe tho. changed the oil in the motor and filled it up tp 650 ml. she turned over just fine. now it doesnt sound right to me tho. think there is a rattle or ping comin from inside the moter. smoking like a you kno what to. whitle smoke. idle is horrible to.when u take off in first it has no power and is bogged down. i shifted to 2nd and same thing. so is it burnin off excess oil thats in the exhaust or did i blow a head gasket. maybe a rod broke loose and thats what made the crack in the crankcase. anyways im lost and dont kno if i should run it and try to burn the oil off or what i should do for my next step.thanks alot for who ever can help me out.
 
theres something in there that caused that case to crack.....i would not ride it anymore until u tear it down and find out why..........mabe a broken piston skirt
 
ya its throwin smoke pretty bad, it was running great before and i can recall it actin up before i decided i was gunna change the oil and stuff.i was thinkin maybe from sittin on the ass end that oil from the bottom end leaked past the rings and maybe thats why its smoking. i think when i bought it, it might have already had a crack in the crankcase but idk.ive never tore one down before and dont wanna mess it up. so idk if i should tear into it or take it somehwere or what i should do
 
can u point me in the right direction my man, this is my first blaster and i love it. deff need to get myself a manuel cause i think im gunna tear into it and see whats up

jeebus. you sound pretty new to these things... so honestly I would say take it to a shop and let them fix it. it doesnt sound like its going to be a simple or easy fix. my bet is broken piston, a piece of it got wedged between the case and the crank and cracked your case, in which point your going to need new cases, piston, crank, cylinder, and head...

if you broke a rod - it will not run. at all. single cylinder motor.
the oil in the bottom end is not under the rings, its in a seperate chamber on the clutch side cover and the back of the motor with the transmission gears... more than likely, when you cracked the case you also cracked the "wall" between the trans gears and the bottom end of the crankshaft and oil is getting in that way. or the crank seal is bad and letting the oil in. either way, its time for a full tear down on the motor. you can probably take the head off your self and see what the top of the piston and head look like. if there are any marks, then you probably cracked the piston..

I know you need to get a new engine case half....

If you don't already have +3 Stroker Crank in there, i'd go ahead and spend the $190 to get one. You will already have to take the crank out, replace the big end rod bearing. I would do this rebuild by yourself with the help of a friend or parent...its not as hard as you think.

Here is a Vito's +3 Stroker Crank=====> PLUS 3 MM STROKER CRANK...

One of these guys on the forum will be able to find ya bearings cause I am yet too afraid to quide you when it comes to this point....Those are the basics....

ya i just sold my 09 brute force and tore into that a few times, never buy another kawi again, damm thing was broke more then it ran. i got a pdf manual im gunna use. my buddy has a few blaster and has done rebuilds before. so i guess il start tearin into it soon.i noticed thats it was leakin oil and smokin from the exhuast manifold. prolly loosin compression there so i kno that has somthing to do w it to. will see how this goes haha
 
It could b that crankcase... but I'm pretty sure you put 2much motor oil.. drain some oil and let it fill up 2 half the watch glass... I bet $100 that's the problem..

I had the same problem "bigdeal" had and it actually ended up being my bearings and seals....i'll have to post what my bearings looked like....UGLY!!!
 
ya guys thanks for the info. i put 650 ml of oil in it. you guys think thats to much? il prolly try to drain some out and see what that does.
 
There is a oil sight on the clutch side of the motor on the lower raer of the cover. With the quad sitting level and the gear box oil should be half way up the glass.

I am pretty sure it isnt too much oil, Blaster calls for 700ml.

If your case got cracked I would think something is bouncing around in the motor.

what ever caused that crack in the bottom of the case could have also caused a crack between the crankcase and transmisiion...my guess is the big end bearing...whatever did not fly out the pipe ended up getting smashed into the case by the crank halves
 
Guys!! unless you have a clutch side crank seal failure or a cracked case - THERE IS NO WAY TRANS OIL IS GETTING IN THE PISTON SIDE OF THE MOTOR to affect the amount that the motor is smoking.

i dont mean to "web yell" but its clear to me that some of you do not understand whats going on with your motor. it doesnt matter if you have 300cc or 800cc of oil in the trans - it will not affect how much smoke is coming out the tail pipe! (provided the crank seal and case isnt cracked) B)
 
guy here in easter nc is chargini me 50 bucks to rip it apart and tell me whats wrong w it, then i can either order the parts and do it myself if its not to hard or pay him to fix it. his rate is 50 bucks and hr for labor. il let u guys kno what he says.takin it in tommorrow prolly. gotta have this beast ready soon for busco beach!
