I recently purchased a 2000 blaster chassis with new plastics and race plastics. I thought it was a great deal so I couldnot pass it up, now for the problem I need help with it came with no motor at all. I did get a fmf silencer but not the pipe that connects it to the motor. Here is my problem I dont know much about these things at all and I dont have tons of money to buy a motor for it and find out that it is no good. So I need some help from you guys that have bean in my shoes before. What is the best thing for me to do I thought about buying some good cases and peicing together a motor but I dont even know what all I would need. Can some one with experience please help me get this thing going. I have bean looking on ebay and craigslist but I dont realy want to buy something that is supposed to be good and end up rebuilding a 500 or 800 dollar motor.:-/

Its gonna be a crapshoot buying any used engine, your best bet is to find one for a good price(under 500$)and have someone go over it for you.I think you would probibly end up spending more $$$ trying to piece one together,if at all possible try and find one local so you can actually look at it beofre you buy it

X2 on the local.

Scour craigslist for someone selling blaster parts and ask if they have an engine. If you do get a whole bottom end, you can repair whatever is wrong with it and then find a cylinder. Chutzell is right about LOTS OF $$$$$ piecing one together. Those tiny little knick knacks will run you into the poor house....

You may also have to accept the fact you may have to take a chance on an engine if that's all that's in your budget...

i'd roll the dice and grab one of these.................
(read the descriptions very closely, so you know what you're getting)

this one...i've seen cases and just bottom ends go for over $150

you're welcome bro, i think that was a good deal for a complete motor,
i'd do a leakdown test on it, could have been sumthin as simple as a crank seal making it smoke ????
a compression test will tell if it needs rings, i'd run anything over 110 lbs compression, 125+ being excellent for a stock motor

and i just saw an fmf fatty pipe with dg silencer on ebay for $125
lemme see if i can find it

Pretty good deal on the motor.

I love this comment in the ad "The motor runs and shifts great. The motor does smoke and will be needing at least rings.".
