ok guys so this is my story. i bought this quad in october and got it up and going. the problem is it refuses to idle, and when you hit the gas it screams like the throttle is pinned and the rpm's dont go back down. i thought i had an airleak so i put all new top end gaskets in. that didnt help. i put new jets in it and a new float valve. that didnt help either. idk whats wrong with it. can anybody help?

Well, you're on the right track when you say you think the engine has an air leak. However, there are more places on a 2-stroke which may leak air than just a gasketed surface. Chances are there's still an air leak present somewhere that you have yet to discover.

Take the flywheel and stator plate off and look at the main seal on that side. It may be damaged. Also, be sure that the intake manifold and carb are tight and that no rips are present in the rubber intake boot. Furthermore, the caburetor cap MUST be screwed down TIGHT. There is an 'O' ring under the cap, too, that could be missing or damaged. Take a good look, and see what you find.

Hope that helps. BTW, if your engine has been running well until this problem happened, don't go messing with the jetting on the carbuetor in an attempt to solve the problem. Re-jetting won't do any good if the engine is suffering from an air leak, and you may wind up forgetting which size jets you had in there before Hell broke loose. Not good. :o

Take the air filter off or air box and watch the throttle valve, make sure it is not hanging up. Also make sure it not cracked open to far
I see meth carb set ups do this all the time but not gas carb set ups. I think it is a throttle valve sticking

check your case bolts in the bottom case as well....if they become loose it will suck air in the cranke case and cause the same problem.....if you spray soapy water anywhere that there is a seal or a mating surface and then give it a few good kicks and look for bubbles this can assist you in finding air leaks! 2smokes vibrate a lot and stuff loosens up after time and leaks happen but if it ran fine and all at once it started doing this it is most definately not a jetting problem as someone already said!
