hey guys, I have an '03 predator 500. It sat for a couple of months and I tried to ride it that day. It would start good but would barely run. Today I drained all the gas out of the tank (because it had water in it) and put fresh gas in. It ran alright (not perfect) for 5-10 minutes but as it got hot it sputtered and died, and once again I couldn't even start off on it. Any ideas? I'm sure all the old gas is out of the carb. Please help...

take that carb off of there and clean it out, make sure that you don't have anything stuck in the petcock or fuel line

I took the carb off..all boot fittings and hose clamps are fine. I did take a quick glance at the jets, and they looked good. I took the throttle shaft cover off and it's not clean at all...I think I have a bad gasket in there because the internals do look exposed. I'm going to take the bowl off and clean it out and also see if the float is sticking

There is no such thing as a "quick look" at the jets. Take off the bowl and hose it out with carb cleaner. The remove both the main jet and the pilot jet and spray through them too. The pilot is especially easy to clog. You should be able to blow through it afterwards, hold it up to the light, and see a nice round hole through it. Spray through all passages and make sure it comes out SOMEWHERE.

Do what the other guys mentioned too, but don't forget that the Pred has a fuel pump so you won't get flow through the fuelline to the carb unless it is running.
