So i been looking on here how to clean a stock air filter all god dam day everything i find is for a K&N air filter is the procedure i use the same?

What do i wash it with an what do i oil it with?

You clean and oil it with "filter cleaner" and "filter oil" you can either buy a K&N kit or go to your local dealer and buy a can of filter oil. The foam filters follow BASICALLY the same process as the K&N. Clean them with a non caustic degreaser (engine cleaner or "filter cleaner") and then oil them with a sticky oil (filter oil)

Alright an im not soaking it in gas i new i could buy cleaner i just didnt wanna mess it up an i though spraying it wit compressed air messed the material up making it less usefull?

I dont think it will rip it. I was just saying gas will work. If you dont have the time to go get cleaner use gas. I used gas on my and sparyed it and it cleaned it like new. but its not stock but it should still work

Warm soapy water will work just fine too. thats what i have done on all my filters then after it is complety dry, oil it back up and your good to go! there are many ways to clean a filter but the main this, if there are no rips and the dirt is all out then its probably all good

ALright well thats easy i just didnt want my blaster to suck anything up it shouldnt suck up in the air filter

Next question while we are on the subject of clean...
I wanna wash my whole bike what do i clean it with an do i have to cover or plug anythings thats unplugged

you really dont need to plug anything up, just maybe a exhaust plug and to clean in the motor, use engine cleaner and spray it all in there, let it it set for no more then 2 min then power wash it off

my exhaust is a little f*cked up anyways ill take it off for the wash i think it dont needa be clean as soon as i get a couple extra dollars its getting changed anyways so that dont matter. Then plug the ehaust port with something (will like a cloth work or now. AN by clean IN the engine your only talking about the outside of the motor right

Spray engine cleaner all on it an then power wash it.

The carb intake reeds wireing harness an all that can get wet?

it can but i have never had a problem and i have washed atvs for 10 years now and have not had one problem when washing. i only use engin cleaner once a year but a regualer wash i dont use any soap. just a a powerwasher on high

alright so ill just plug the ehaust port up an power wash everything on high an i should be good spraying everything? on the bike down good once i have a little oil on the one side from me spill gas/ oil mix on it from the petcock i disconnected it while it was on i might need engine cleaner for that

But thank u all
An i apologize if i offended anyone i did put a bad word up there a post ago i was typing quick ill watch my mouth

Yep on the warm soapy water to clean a filter. Blasterr, gas WILL indeed work but it will slowly eat at the glue that holds the filter together. I've always used a really thick bar and chain oil for chainsaws. You can buy it right at Valu Home Center. The best brands to use are Itasca and Stihl. I would try to find Itasca though because it is thicker and stickier. I don't like the air filter spray because it's too thin. I don't feel right using it and have been told not too by many A Class Riders. As for cleaning the quad, just clean it with the pipe on it. If you take the pipe off and jam a cloth into the exhaust port the cloth with just absorb the water and it will run right into the cylinder. Just use a plug in the silencer. And like stated, engine cleaner for 30 seconds-2 minutes and spray it off. If your not running an airbox lid, use a plastic bag to cover the filter and don't spray it directly. Never was a quad without the filter. The electricals and carb will be just fine. Good luck and have fun, Paul.

If you have removed your exhaust you will want to plug your exhaust port on the motor , You also want to cover your intake into the motor the best you can , if you get ANY water in your motor it will not be good !, Try not to get ANY water into the intake boot , carb , reeds Etc , the outside of the motor can take some water , just dont put allot of pressure to your gasket areas and Lube your chain after you dry it so it will not get stiff !

Thank you an okay well i will defintally wash it like that an i have the sthil chainsaw greese in my shed now i could use that?...

An no fun anytime soon got a few problems to fix an a few things i wann do to the bike first

Ok glad you understand haha. And any HEAVY bar and chain oil will work. The best was to test it is to pour some on your index finger and try to stick your thumb and index finger together. If it's really tacky when you pull your fingers apart it will work. But make sure it isn't really thin and watery. And I always take some wheel bearing grease and go around the base of the filter with a thin layer so it will stick completely to the airbox around the intake.
