hydraulic brake question

why is the piston closed on my hydraulic brakes? how can i undo this. there is no fluid thats being pushed through the line.

i can undo the piston with a screwdriver, and it will stay till i hit the brake, but once i hit it, it wont return, anyone know?

could be air in the lines or bad fluid, have you tried bleeding the brake?

Also there could be break in the line somwhere, or the cap on the handle bars is loose, but try to bleed it first if you havent already
