How to bleed brakes?

hey how can i bleed the rear brake on my quad (its not working ) but the china caliper was fine until took of the brake line to get on of the screws for my yfz's caliper and its doing the same thing now(which means it needs bleeding ) , so how can i do it? thanks

i believe you want to take the caliper off and find the bleeding nipple. you put a piece of gas line or whatever on it preferably clear and you want to make the nipple the highest part of the hydraulic system. then you put a wrench on the nipple and crack it loose and pump the brakes until fluid comes out of the nipple then you tighten it back up

see what he has the wrench on? you slip a piece of clear hose on it so u can see when it starts to come out without getting brake fluid all over everything. also don't forget to refill you resivoir when you are done bleeding!

no, no, no,
no gas line, and no pumping
just get the caliper off, with the bleeder facing up, pump the brakes and hold down on the pedal, open the bleeder, then re-tighten the bleeder, then and only then do you release the pedal and repeat, do not let up or pump the pedal with the bleeder opened, it will suck in air, and you'll be there forever
this also works best with the lid off the rezzie, and keep it full of fluid diuring this, and fill after

ohh i was thinking of instructions i saw for a power bleeder thing lol. sry drifz ignore me and follow awks instructions. 1 question though. won't u get brake fluid all over the place without the hose?

ah, yeah, and unless you put the hose into a cup, and are very careful, its gonna go on the floor anyway, i've bled almost 40 sets of dual caliper, dual bleeder gsxr brakes, some of them numerous times, and have never gotten a drop on me, on the garage floor yes, but it wipes right up, it's not hydrochloric acid, but will eat paint if left on for long periods, and without the hose you can see better when the air stops and fluid begins coming out good

get something of equal size as the rotor in between the pads, i use my 8mm speedwrench, if not they will close too far and are a biotch to get open without gouging the pads, then do it till you start feeling good pedal and see no more air coming out, just solid fluid, keep the rezzie open, and full of fluid the whole time or it will suck air in from there
when you think its good, push the pedal and try to remove the wrench, if it wont budge, leave off the pedal and it should come out, then all is good
if it comes out easy while pushing the pedal, redo the bleeding steps above

DO NOT PUMP THE PEDAL WITH THE BLEEDER OPEN, IT WILL SUCK AIR IN AS THE PEDAL RETURNS TO IT'S NORMAL POSITION

PLACE A WRENCH BETWEEN THE PADS, PUMP THE PEDAL A FEW TIMES, THEN OPEN THE BLEEDER WHILE STILL HOLDING THE PEDAL DOWN, CLOSE THE BLEEDER, THEN AND ONLY THEN, RELEASE THE PEDAL, REPEAT TILL NO AIR COMES OUT, AND THE PADS GRAB THE WRENCH TIGHTLY

I think your brother may be thinking about car brakes, you get some fuel pipe and put it on the bleed nipple, and put the end in some brake fluid to prevent air from going back into the calliper, losen the nipple and press the brakes repeatabley in a pumping manor. It then becomes harder to press as all the air is leaving the lines.

Not too sure if it works the same on quads, go with AWK as that way ^^^^^ is a serious waste of brake fluid.
