how to adjust needle clip position?

im trying to adjust my needle clip position in a mikuni 28mm flatside carb. ive changed jets around and i have a about right but still running rich i was told to go down on the needle clip one notch. wat to look for and how to tell... thanks

and jet was at 280 its now 270 running better with a fmf full exhaust and no airbox lid. black is less black and more brown but still boggy on wide low and wot throttle.

On my stock blaster carb, the top of the carb screws off. The needle valve is in the slide that screws off. Its a pain to get to. There were 2 phillips screws holding mine inside the slide. After you get these out, you'll see the clip on the needle. Move it up to lean it out. Move the clip down to richen it up.

cool thanks yea i actually seen that once i put a new cable in but i didnt know it adjusted ill take a look thanks.
