the liquid is pumped around the cylinder, where the liquid absorbs heat, then the liquid is pumped through the radiator, where that heat is dissipated into the air around it.

take a shower, step out in front of a fan,
feel the cooling effect ?
same principle, but in an enclosed system
 
Yes the cool coolant ' absorbs ' the heat from the cylinder as it travels threw, when it passes threw the radiator the air flowin threw 'pulls' the heat out lf the coolant.. this is a continuous cycle..... like i saod like a car minus the thermostat..
