I reckon Im just curious. So how did everyone get the Blaster that you are currently building or enjoying? Its storytime!

Here's mine:

After dealing with a worn-out 1993 Blaster for a couple weeks, I got fed up and decided it would be cheaper to buy another one than to completely rebuild that machine. I mean the top and bottom ends were shot on that engine, as were all the bushings, and somebody had painted the plastics an off-shade of blue. Yeah, ugly. I wanted something nicer.

SO, I called a craigslist ad one day for a mint condtion 2005 Blaster. The guy wanted $ 1,200.00. When I called, the seller said he had somebody on the way to look at it. I was 2 hours away so I couldnt do anything but tell him to call me if he still had it later that day. As fate would have it, he called back and I was on my way to Denison Tx to take a look. I saw it, went for a test ride, and offered $ 1,000.00 cash. This Blaster was like-new with maybe 15 hours on it. It already had the Toomey kit installed (pipe, filter, jet kit). The seller took my offer and I drove off with a great deal. He even gave me the factory owner's manual!

As soon as I got it home, I promptly tossed the oil injection, stock carb, and TORS system. This summer, I built it into the machine you see in my sig.

my friend gave it to me 3 years ago today for a birthday present. it was almost stcok beside 14 40 gearing and uni airfilter. now i have made it un regonizable from what it looked like 3 years ago its almost race ready and i start racing it next year hopefully. its in my sig with over 1000 dollars in mods and repairs

Decided to get my own quad after borrowing buddy's quads. Was the cheapest one I could afford at the time. Was planning on riding this for awhile then get a 400 or 450. Then got the mod bug.

Started with this vvvvvv

~$3000 turned it into this vvvvvv

I took my '99 yz125 and '00 warrior to the dealership and traded them for a brand new '04 blaster. Then I parked it in the shed and started ordering parts. 3 yrs later and $7400 later, I've got the quad in my sig

I looked for ever for a atv was gonna go chinese but then my dad said he would help me out since i found a blaster for cheap. So i switched gears and looked for a blaster found a painted up broken frame pos that didnt run. I drove there looked at it and said no on the way back saw a bike store and i said lets not stop but my dad said it wouldnt hurt. I found a ugly purple blaster turned it down but 2 weeks or so later i came back and bought it.

Then i caught the mod bug and did some stuff. Affter no front fenders and hand guards and grips i had this.

and still more to come.

me and my dad bought a pair of 1992 blasters for $2000 that were just rebuilt, 1 needed a bit of work, but was perfectly ridable, the other ran perfectly, I later blew up one of them due to the non existent mechanic skills of the previous owner that only became apparent after I ripped into the blown motor, and sold the other for $1300, costing me $950 for sh*t.

Mine, of the pair

Then I bought my 1990 blaster for $600 from a dude that got busted for riding in the streets on it and needed to pay a heavy ticket, it was a sh*tty looking quad with a lot of redneck work done, but it ran perfect, and never did give me any engine problems, I rebuilt it to practically new condition and rode the hell out of it and traded it for a newer 500cc ski doo.

when I bought it

when I was done rebuilding it, never did anything else to it, only rode

I've had my fun with blasters, too tall to ride one comfortably now, the aim is an LT 250r.

I got both mine really recently. The one I am doing the motor swap on I got the rolling frame from my neighbor who just wanted to get his money back, so I got everything but a motor and carb for 200, and I am now putting my brothers cr250 motor in it. Almost got the motor mounts done!

My other blaster which I now ride has a very interesting story behind it. It started off and my neighbor's friends blaster (same neighbor as before) It didn't work for some reason and they couldn't find out why. So my brother went over and watched (he was 14 at the time and they were in their 20's) He figured out what was wrong with it by watching and having previous experience with the same problem. The flywheel key was sheered. He offered them 400 for the whole thing and 2 hours later they agreed. He bought it and brought it home. 10 minutes later he rode it back to their house. He wanted to race it so he put a diamond J kit with banshee shocks and a couple other minor things before he gave up and went into dirt bikes. I inherited the blaster and rode it around and fixed it when it broke, basically beat the crap out of it because I didn't know any better. I sold it to my friend for 750 and he had the worst time with it. He put full FMF on it and it broke every ride, went through flywheel keys, pistons, everything imaginable! I would fix it every time because he didn't know jack about quads lol. He let it sit for a couple seasons and after trying to sell it told me that 300 would take it. It worked perfectly. I said HELL YES! I did a full tune up and did a couple other things to it. You might have seen the help threads lol. So thats the story! Any questions class? haha

I traded this.(LT 230)

For this.

I received the LT 230 on a trade deal along with an 89 Blaster. Didn't need both so I Replyed to a CL ad looking to trade a non running Blaster for any running quad. Went to look at it and did the trade. The guy said he just had it totally rebuilt top to bottom on the motor. Ended up being bad reeds. When I took the jug off, it did look real clean. Got on here and got the mod bug and didn't take my first ride on it till almost 2 years after getting it.

A guy brought me a honda gyro scooter to get running but he didn't have any cash to put into it so he offered me a clean 03 blaster that didn't run as payment. I took it and found the tors system to be faulty. The guy said he had maybe 10 hours on it and after I took the jug off I believe him. So a pre 03 cdi and light custom 5 wire harness went on and the rest has happened in just a few short months.

Civic got mine on a trade. Some guy needed a lawn mower, and since James bought 3 Snappers for like $60, he fixed one up and traded it for my 1996(?) Blaster. I don't think there's much "go fast" stuff done to it, but it was a total wreck and he pretty much had to build it from the ground up. I actually felt comfortable enough yesterday that I let the kids ride around the yard with me. Practiced stopping in the ditch and taking off up hill. Didn't think it would be any more difficult, but there is definitely a difference.

mine came in a box from my grandpa, which sat in his garage since 1997. he bought the quad brand new in 1990, and my uncle tore it apart to fix something that wasnt broken on the bottom end, and it sat in a box ever since

I was looking to buy another quad and had the trailer hooked up to pick up a Honda 300ex for 1100 bucks plus my ps3. The dude didn't text me back for like 5 hours so I looked for quads on craigslist again an found a blaster. Never owned a 2 stroke and had no clue about these little guys. I told the guy I had the cash and would come look at it. Ended up getting it for 700 bucks 2001 ran like a champ. Had it for 1 year then blew it up. Thats when the Mod bug bite me. I picked up an extended swinger +4 for 50 bucks. Sent my motor to Ken for port and polish, bore, +3 stroker, bought a 30mm carb, full fmf exhaust for 60 bucks, boyseen reeds for 20 bucks, rear banshee hubs for free with a set of rims for 60 bucks. 300ex front shocks, 450r rear shock, k&n airfilter, +3 rear widening kit, awk rear brake, and raptor front hydros, and fog lights projection fog lights under the plastics instead of the stock light. (Had to get a 3rd job for all the motor work) haha I wouldn't trade my blaster for a 4 choke ever now
