I bought a 1978 CM400T a bit back and after I tore it completely down and rebuilt it cafe style it ran great (after carb cleaning of course). I rode it around and let the GF chase me around on it without skipping a beat. After playing around on it the other day I parked it in my garage like always. After sitting for like 3 days I went to jump on it and take a ride...NO Start
After flooding it and kicking it for 15 min I pulled the plugs, NO SPARK.
Been tearing every connector, every ground, EVERYTHING off this thing for 2 days and I still cant get it to fire.
Some notes:
3 Yellow wires coming out of the stator. 5.14v, 5.17v, 6,16, (While Cranking Engine)
White wire from stator. -0.1v to 0.15v (While Cranking Engine)
Blue From Stator. -0.1v to 0.18v (While Cranking Engine)
Fuses are good, all lights/signals work perfect, battery charged w/ good connection.
Pink from stator. -0.12v to 0.16v (While Cranking Engine)
Light Blue from stator. 0v (While Cranking engine)
Brown from stator. 0v (While Cranking Engine)
I have the Black/White wire off the CDI disconnected (The one that kills the engine when grounded)
Green - Yellow from CDI to Coil:
Not connected to coil ~5v
Connected to coil 0v (Plugs grounded or not)
Ohms from Green-Yellow ON COIL SIDE 0 Ohms (Closed Circuit)
Yellow to Engine w/ coil disconnected 0 Ohms (Closed Circuit)
Green to Engine w/ Coil disconnected 0 Ohms (Closed Circuit)
Yellow to Spark Plug center electrode Infinate (Open Circuit)
Ohm at coil yellow-green 0.7 Ohm w/ meter set @ 200
MAYBE COIL?
AC Generator Ohms
Green-White 450 w/ meter set at 2000
Blue-White 84 w/ meter set at 2000
Green-Brown 98 w/ meter set at 2000
Green-Pink 140 w/ meter set at 2000
Green-Lt Blue w/ 117 w/ meter set at 2000
CDI Box says TIA01-20
Pink-Green into stator 140 Ohm w/ meter set at 2000
White-Blue going into stator 89.6 Ohm w/ meter set at 2000
Brown-LT Blue going into stator 212 Ohm w/ meter set at 2000
So guys what's the problem? Why is this thing not givin up the spark?
Thank you for all your help!!! I'm ready to kick it off the kickstand...
