i have an 02 yamaha blaster step brother was learning clutch i was teaching and feel like thsi is my fault now. lol but every time he shifted he would shift up instead of down and go and then when he finally got the hang of he held full throttle in first gear for about qtr of a mile.. so i told him to turn it off after putting it in neut. and the thing started freaking out revving high sounded like she was on her max rpm's took out key turned off gas nothing worked. so after that i took her for a spin. heard the engine knock. i got home took my top end off.. and my cylinder was gone! piston was burnt to sh*t... and i couldnt figure out the revving. also i got the pistion with a new head and all but theres a problem i didnt know the guy i bought from had it bore.. is this a problem? because i had a hell of a time putting the head on my piston.. then it got stuck.. the kicker wouldnt budge piston wouldnt move smootly through cylinder.. took it off and bent of the rings.. but my bottom ring is not compressing and thats the bent one after all this happend. please help and thanks in advance.X(
 
Kind of sounds like an air leak to me.... But im not sure...

And running WOT in first for quarter mile will completely ruin the engine IMO

Could have either been air leak or severly over heated engine causing "auto-ignition" :o

FYI, when this happens, shift into gear, hold brakes with all your might and dump the clutch. I:I

Now to the piston. Your description of parts is not easily understood. What do you mean by "putting the head on the piston" ?
Did you buy a new piston for your existing cylinder, and how did you determine the size needed? Or did you get a new cyl and piston?
When you installed cyl over piston, were the ends of rings aligned with the pins on/in the piston? Did you gap the rings first?
 
The long run at full throttle didn't do it any good. Did you ever do a leak down test and a plug chop to check jetting ? The part that slides over the piston is called the cylinder jug. You will have to measure the piston and bore to see what your working with. It may not be a match.
 
yes i did a leak down test when i very first got it. on to my cylinder jug/pistons i got a used one for my top end rebuild but the cylinder was in great condition and the guy even wireweeled it whatever. im somewhat still new to all this learning in the process.. but it was as smooth as a baby bottom! the piston was very clean and i cant tell if its bore or not it only has the numbers 200 on it, and yes i did line the rings up with the knotches in the piston it all compressed except the bottom one. also i will try and get a pic up tomarrow of that bent ring.
 
Where did you get the rings from? Maybe the bottom ring is wrong match it up to the top ring is it the same size? Be patient we will get you going. Pics help allot though..

It is not supposed to be smooth, it should be rather rough if it was honed correctly.

How many rings are on that piston.

Did someone slip you a 4 poke piston?
 
Ok guys im back! I went on vacation.sorry. So it turnes out that when i had my buddy.put the rings on he put the numbers facing down, therefore causing it to catch the jug. But i fixed that.. Now.. Everything is fine except for after the rebuild she is not turning.over unless i kick and give her gas then when she gets going if i even let go of my throttle she cuts out and shd does not idle.. :/ help. Thanks in advance
