put new jets in and after having trouble with the throttle cable and slide i got it all back together thanks to the members on blaster forum. Started her up and it instantly just revs extremely high even without touching the throttle. Reved up so high i shut it off after about 2 seconds. Any idea what is causing this I thought maybe something to do with the needle maybe I need to back out the throttle screw on top of the carb or tighten it down more? Im not sure any suggestions? Thanks for any help dont know what I would do without this forum

did the slide fall down in like its supposed to? did you get the top tight? sounds like either the throttle is sticking open or you have an air leak

From your other pics the carb cable adjuster on the carb cap was out alot of the way. I would first make sure the slide is in correctly and the cap is on right. Then adjust the throttle calbe adjusters both of them one on the throttle and the one on the carb cap. Start with them both all the way in and then adjust them to your liking....

yeah the slide went down all the way and tightened the cap. It seems to me that the throttle is stuck open how would i fix that?

What happens when you give it throttle does the cable and throttle move nice and smooth. When you let off the throttle do you hear the slip spring back into place? Oh and I mean with the Blaster off, not running.

yeah the throttle moves smooth when i push it in and springs back to the starting position when I let off

How is the idle screw on top of the T.O.R.S.? I know if the idle screw is stripped on the T.O.R.S. unit it will cause an airleak also.

Did you try adjusting the throttle cable?

Also Why did you change the jetts?

I just put new jug gasket and head gasket in and it was running good but was boggy at wide open throttle and after consulting ppl on here I was told to lower my jets. I live at about 4000 ft elevation and was told i needed smaller jets to compensate for the higher elevation. Before putting the new jets in the blaster idled fine and rode fine except for at wot, which is why i dont think it could be an airleak.

is the box still on top of the carb though? if it is then you could still have the problems fioz was describing

Well is there is a big ass box on top of your carb cap then the T.O.R.S. was disconnected not removed.

Here is a pic of the T.O.R.S. unit that goes ontop of the carb cap.

There is a idle screw on the back side of the unit near the top. Youcan faintly see it in the pic all the way at the right. If that is stripped it could cause an air leak.

Did you get the carb on right to the reed assembly the intake and tighten it? I would check the intake boot for cracks or holes...

know i dont have the big tors box on top of the carb thanks for the help guys got too dark to see what I was doing. Im going to mess with it tomorrow and hopefully figure out the problem. Ill post and let u guys know if i got it fixed. Thanks again for the help really appreciate it

Also I was just thinking could the float bowl being not screwed down tight enough create an airleak? I bought some new screws for it from the hardware store cause the others were pretty stripped. I got it pretty tight but the screws were slightly shorter than the stock ones in the float bowl thought maybe they werent tight enough but they seem to be.

ok since you dont got the tors box do you have the idle screw kit?

not sure what the idle screw kit is but the way I adjusted the idle in the past was the small screw on the carb and it seemed to work fine had it idleing perfect. The problem i have now though i dont think can be adjusted by the idle screw it just revs insanely high right after I start it like the throttle is stuck wide open but I dont think its stuck open

Could the reed intake assembly having a crack or hole, or the reed boot not being tightened enough to the carb cause it to rev like insanely high after starting it?
