I put a new motor in my 2000 blaster it is from a 2004. I grounded the extra wire (green wire with white tracer) and It runs and idles perfectly but backfires above 1/4 throttle. I have checked reeds, spark plug, wiring harness for wires grounding out, and tried some different jets. I don't know what the problem could be. We noticed smoke coming out where the flange joins the exhaust when it backfires. I don't have an o ring to put in there. I was thinking that could be the problem but it was that way on the old motor too and it ran great.

its the tors acting up because 03+ has the tors built right in the cdi and your hooking your wiring up to it and its fliping out cause it cant reconize the tors in the cdi so ill brb and tell you how to get rid of it gota look at my wiring

I don't have a flywheel puller to check right now but i'll keep that in mind. Also it ran fine in the old quad (I was told).

ahhh rule number 1 ....never listen to what the previous owner said.....if i only had a dollar for everytime ive seen "fresh top end" in any ebay or craigslist posting.....whos gonna put a brandnew topend in and then sell it lol...just saying bud

I agree with that but I got it from someone on the forum and it seems to be perfect with good compression and everything. I think its worth checking but I can't get the flywheel off. Unless anyone has a trick besides using a puller?
