help?? please

ok
for one, 170 psi is not high enough to call for race fuel.
or probably 100 octane for that matter.
dont take it to a shop, you are going to save tons of money doing it yourself.
taking the head off requires knowing how to remove 4 bolts and buying a gasket. then you just simply pull it off, feel your piston around, see if you can move it sideways and stuff, take a picure and we can determine if there is too much clearance, and if so, you need to get your bore checked and probably get an oversized piston. but checking is not hard. if you can change a tire you can check. just be clean about the whole thing, and you will have no problems.

did you honestly just say that? like it may be a glitch on the forums or something and it just LOOKS like you said doesnt even need 100 octane for 170 psi.

if you dont know how to fix it, and your hopeless on fixing it with some help from us or whoever, then take it to a shop. some things are shop jobs but some arent and we could help with easily.

no you heard my right, 170 psi is not enough to call for 100 octane.
although it is a good preventative measure, you could get away with less
a crf250 can make up to 190 some and there are lots of people who run 89 in them.
you guys are overshooting the octane thing wayy to much and not only losing money, but you in some cases are sacrificing power

btw, read you manual is all i can say.
this is an extremely easy job.
there is virtually nothing you can screw up as long as you stay clean, and get everything good and snug, but not stripped.

oh ive pulled a head or two.. just figured i didnt really need to cause if the rings were bad i dont think it would be holding that much compression.. my buddy that runs a race shop in another town 5 hours away(or the bike would be there) told me to run race gas and run a colder plug.. so ill try these things first.. thanks for all the input. also gotta get some of that bel ray gear saver tomorrow and change that.. just in case i do it.. do you know what the head bolts should be torqued to??

170PSI is a really high reading for a blaster. remember, 100-130 is normal for a stock motor. keep in mind that he has a big bore high compression race kit on the bike. its not your average cheap vitos kit we are talking about here.

170 psi is definately grounds for high octane fuel. modded motors are going to make noises that arent there on stock pistons and exhaust systems.

your motor is tuned to run in a certain RPM range, if you are under that range the sound waves that are reflecting back into your cylinder will be off sync with the movement of your piston. this paired with the tin can thin walled exhaust systems that are made for blasters will cause that out of sync noise to be amplified. yes there will be weird noise and less power because of it. its when you tell me that it operates normal once it gets into its sweet spot i know nothing is wrong with your motor. there is no need to tear it down and inspect the insides unless you really feel the need to spend money on new gaskets just for sh*ts and giggles. if your motor was actually experiencing piston slap or anything else for that matter, it would do it no matter what RPM you are running at and it will be much louder.

a lot of members on here will often steer someone to the worst case scenerio when it comes to motor problems before thinking through all the variables. you will see a bunch of over thinking when it comes to troubleshooting and a lot of blame going toward the very select few parts that have caused similar types of problems.

and if you're still worried about it... ill gladly trade you top ends. my stock bore top end, exhaust and carb for yours.

170 psi is 170 psi, whether it be on a blaster or a lawnmower. you cant say it needs a certain octane because its a different motor. are you trying to say taking a head off is hard? for God sakes, i do it after every few rides just to check everything out and do some cleaning. and a head gasket is what $5? go ahead and tell him to just live with it, but im sure he will learn when his piston shatters and his cylinder is destroyed
as far as the rpm, it is possible for the piston to be held up by the rings until a certain range where the centrifugal pressure from any side would break it loose

so you are saying that fuel will not pre-detonate at a higher compression?

whats the purpose of octane ratings on fuel if any old pump gas can handle that much compression?

please man, pass the pipe this way, you gotta be smoking some seriously good sh*t right now.

THANK YOU VALHALLA. and a big I love you to tj. ive had enough of your sh*t. all engines are different and meanwhile your telling blaster builders off when you have never owned a blaster all you have is that pos bike with an ugly pipe.

oh i went there. stop trying to seem like you know more about blasters and engines than valhalla. oh and certainly you dont know more about blasters than me so dont even go that route. doesnt even need to continue after this post but i know your going to biotch and argue when you have no idea what the hell compression even means.

sit.

listen up fellas
this thread was started because somebody needed help, if your gonna piss and moan take it elsewhere and stop cloggin this thread all up

shut up, you took what i said wrong, using a full 125 takes years, absolute years to do, neither gscx or myself could do it, im sure you probably thought i meant in a straight line or something. but come back when you can argue and reason like a real adult, instead of trying to look cool by emphasizing how angry you are. im not going to resort to personal attacks, because im not stooping to your level, but in my eyes your blaster looks like sh*t also. but thats just my opinion, im sure someone on here thinks otherwise.
oh, and this bike will blow your sh*t away, thats a fact.

as far as the op, no, i am simply saying that 170 psi is manageable at numbers less than 100 octane. being a blaster motor or a crf250 motor has nothing to do with that. thats all im saying.

buy YOU need to calm down and comprehend what i say thoroughly

That is the stupist sentence I have ever heard.... You are not going to resort to personal attacks, but in the same sentence you do???

That is some funny stuff ! !

a personal attack would be something along the lines of "your a stupid biotch"
but saying his blaster is ugly in my eyes is not.
its ok, we all make mistakes
