Ok to be honest I dont know much about anything when it comes to quads and such but heres my problem. i just bought a 2000 blaster

when i pull in the clutch or have it in N it starts to rev really high. the other day it was revved all the way out and i hit the kill switch, shut the key off and removed the plug wire and it kept on running at a really high rpm. I had to stall it to get it to shut off. I removed and took apart the carb and everything looked ok. any solutions to the probelm. and btw it only starts to do this after the motor has been running for a little while.

also which spark plug do i need?

thanks everyone

You have a BIG air leak somewhere. Do not run it till you do a leak down test and fix it.You need to read up on doing a compression test because you may have killed the top end. Read up on doing a leak down test and how to jet.

ok leak down test..what is that lol? i had a few people suggest to me to check the reeds?

also found this gasket (in picture sticking out) so dont know if this could have something to do with it.

I replaced the head gasket because it was leaking a little but now it seems to be fine.

My buddies blaster did the same thing. He was pulling up to stop and put it into neutral. And it just started revving out of control. He tried turning the key and kill switch off but did nothing. So I jumped off my bike and yanked the spark plug wire off it and it kept going. I was amazed that this little engine was acting like a diesel. Anyway he just threw it in gear and held the brake while dumping the clutch to kill it. Turned out to be that his stock carb was missing the clip that holds the top from unscrewing itself. So like all blasters they rattle so much that they loosen up everything. It just started unscrewing itself causing it to open up the slide inside the carb.

when it does that just turn off gas line and it shall die out

Defiantly not what I would do. You would be sitting there for a while waiting for it to burn the gas through the line and in the bowl. By that time your engine would be fried. Best just to put it in the highest gear and hold all the breaks while dumping the clutch.

If a motor runs with the plug lead off you can bet you sweet bippy that it is running pretty darn hot.

Could be caused by excess carbon in the combustion chamber.

A spark plug of the wrong heat range, use a B8ES.

A lean mixture caused by improper jetting or an air leak can cause the combustion chamber to become so hot that it will fire the charge without the aid of a spark.

You need to check for crancase air leaks, leaky inlet gaskets and crank seals.

Do not ride until the problems have been diagnosed and rectified.
In other words, fix it or f**k it.

I got a new spark plug for it which is a B8ES and everyone told me i need a BR8Es

If you have an high rev problem simply open your choke circuit ( pull the choke out ) and your engine will shut off immediately. In my opinion that's the fastest and safest way !
