Hi all.

I have a problem, after my Blaster is now very modded the exhaust is apparently getting really hot..

The problemarea is where the front pipe and the rear silencer meets and is together by this rubber joint with 2 metal bands with screw to tightn. . . .

It simply get so hot so the rubber get very soft and metal bands cut them, and it goes to pieces the rubber thingy... have messed up two now.. the one that came with Toomey kit (green) and the stock one (black).. This results in a very noise exhaust due to sealfailure between to pipe ends.. (middles?! :)

WHAT to do? I need a really strong and heat resistant rubber joint for the pipes? Anyone else had this problem, or know a quick resolution.

I have never had this happen before (I will have to pay attention the next time I go riding). Have you done a plug chop to check the color of your plugs. I am curious as to see if you are jetted too lean.

you've got issues if your pipe is getting so hot that it melts the rubber pipe connector. Like burnin' oil said, check your plug color for proper jetting.

Your running lean and the motor is running hot....maybe you dont have it tuned as well as you thought you did.

x2--a lean motor will often "seem" to run strong, until it seizes... For reference, my pipe barely gets too hot to touch at that joint. That's a fair way down the exhaust stream, it's not like it's right at the exhaust port. You've got too much heat!

Hmmm thats not good i suppose.. I dont get it .. seemed like the 150 main is pretty common with my setup?? Why would I need a much bigger jet than others? I dont even have port job.? My toomey exhaust is also tanned and blueish down where it connects to the cylinder..(heat) But i dont get it .. Could there be THAT much of a difference between ex. 150 installed, change to 152 or 155 so my exhaust dont get so hot?

This is where it disintegrates later in the movie... its sounds healthy? or ?

Sounds good but I have not seen one plume of blue smoke. That is not a good sign. If I was you I would jet up a bit more and do a plug chop.

What jet are you running right now?

Im runing 150 main jet.. rest stock settings.. pilot 55 needle 3groove..

BUT! Can this be happening due to to much compression?

I have stroker crank +3 Vito and head milled 0.035" .. ?

I have a 152 and a 155 mainjet in spare..

what is your premix ratio? mine is 32-1 and when i get on it it will poof some blue smoke. lol i think you should just throw that carb in the garbage. it seems like its caused you nothin but assache. haha j/k, once you get it jetted right it will probally be great as long as your engine dont blow first. what your plug look like anyhow?

wow man you got some problem there are you sure that your pipe is not a bit kloged up and do you have the right packing in your tail piece just a question.

but you might also be running leen like every one sead.

First of all plenty of smoke when i start up and throttlling up! .. this is without choke.. but it disappears when i drive around of corse..

my premix is 32:1

Well the pipe is no more that 6 months old.. OR only 3-4 ride times old!..

I dont know what the plug look like.. Ill check tomorrow! ... along with JET change .. ill just put the big one I have.. 155.

I would jet from the bottom up. There is more to jetting than just the main. I will look through my favorites to find a good link for jetting. You may be fine on the main and off on the a/f(idle), slide, pilot, or needle - all of these affect your idle to @2/3 throttle position. I have a site that explains this rather well and I will try to find it (I must have saved it in the wrong file or on another computer) please just be patient.

Do you happen to know your elevation you ride at? My jet sizes are smaller than many others on this board, but the lowest elevation I ride at is around 4000ft, and up to 7500ft. If you are closer to sea level, you will need to run bigger jets.

if you advance your timing to a certain degree it will change your flame head of the combustion to direct more heat on the pipe so was just checking. with head work like that make sure your running 91 octane or a hair better if you can get 92 or 93. when you got new exhaust you had a new silencer with it also? and also you could be lean or an air leak. Everything runs perfect (starting,idling,1/8-wot) except it gets hot?
