Anybody ever try wraping there pipe with header wrap? The stuff used on the headers of race cars.It holds the heat in the pipe. The hotter exhaust moves faster.(ie faster flow of the exhaust gases out of the pipe.I don't know if it will work the same for a 2 stroke.

i believe its different....i could be mistaken...but if that were true, people would have done it by now im sure....

no dont do it... a builder said its will mess with the way the pipes work, hell from what i understand just painting a pipe will effect its function... im sure someone can chime in on this.... now wapping your silncer thats fine.... as the exhaust cools it slows down, so wrapping your silencer will keep it warm and help the gases flow out faster

theoretically it should work better. the headers that are used in cars are not designed to be wrapped either but when wrapped they are proven to run better. i know that many professional racers wrap atleast some of their headers on 4-stroke bikes. I was thinking of getting my next pipe in bare metal and having it coated in ceramic to help promote exhaust flow and to better contain the heat. I have seen pictures of the old two-stroke gp race bikes with that same wrap on their exhausts so it must work.

ive done both ceramic and wrap, works great less heat on your leg and plastic , i first started doing it on my snomo's and found the throttle response was better and they would built power sooner and actually quieter,

nice! I now know for sure that I am going to take the time and expense to do this when I get some time. Thanks for the info =) +1
