Head Milling and what it does to you...

get head milled just a lil bit and wallmart gas ( 93) doesnt work lmao corn fuel mix

I just got a ported and polished cylinder that was bored .020 over with a Vertex pistin, and a shaved head. The shaved head has some cracked fins, and I wanted to put my stock head on. Will this effect anything. Could i do this, and make it work? What octane gas should I use? Thanks

puttin the stock head on will make less power since the other one is milled. shouldn't have a problem doin it tho just so u use a new head gasket. i always run 93 octane with my stock head.

hey regal hey regal hey regal, im making a blaster for trails and stuff now after i made one dune blaster, one bat outta hell blaster, and now i want to do a trail one...

my question for you is...
---with .60 bore/wiseco piston kit and .020 head milling and +4 hotrod crank.. you think i'mma be okay on 93 oct.? i guess it's okay if im not.. but to fill 6 quads with race gas is expensive...

i would say yes but the only way to tell for sure is to try it and see if your getting a miss or running uncomfortably hot...from the looks of it your bat outa hell blaster it seems to be fairly close to the same setup how does it run on 93? have you tried it, i would expect similar results...

haha, it doesn't run on 93 very well because i have an extreme port job done, and i have the head milled moreso than it says because i just had it redone, and it is also a firebreather 240 kit -- which before i had anythign else done already required 108+ octane... so thats why i was curious about what was going to happen..

your 1995 blaster must be scary to take out on the trails because when you do that much motor work you cant trust it.

actually ,to mill the head is to shave it which means you only take a few thousands off of it to get it closer to the piston which in turn gives you more compression ratio the more you shave the more compresssion you will get as stated above in the #s but as stated you do not take more that .00035 or as stated you will need racing fuel and this does give you more HP , and same goes for the bore size .10 ,.20,.30 etc the bigger bore the More Hp you will get , but if you want to go more than that you will have to start to play around with the bottom end this is just for top end rebuilds .pretty much

ok but what happens when you do shave .40 off wont the spark plug hit if you get a high comp piston????

Just out of curiosity... Anyone here running Ethanol? Always wondered how that would work given its lower specific energy value. How would you go about premixing with it?
Meh. I suppose 32:1 is 32:1 any way you look at it.

I run methanol. I mix it 28.1 with Super techniplate.
It works fantastic when you run like a size 700 main + a powerjet :)

I am running methanol with 20/1 klotz Benol (castor oil). I am thinking of adding a small amount of Nitro, however, I don't know what compression ratio and ignition advance I can get away with. Right now I have a 15/1 uncorrected C/R with a 14cc total volume above the piston. Anyone running methanol?

The only problem that I had when milling my head is that after the mill of .020 I was fine but when I went to .035 I had to adjust the timing...Gotta keep it reliable...It's a helluva lot more fun to ride than work on...

2 strokes & nitro are hard to get just right with the tune. I ran a 5% mix of nitro a couple times. I ended up detonating and I stopped using it right away. I definitely made some more hp with it but I could just hear the stress it was putting on my motor!

All the tuning you have to do with meth you have to do even more with the nitro. like an even bigger fuel supply or run a pump, colder plug, less compression and timing. Try mixing 5% propylene oxide it's safer with alot less tuning issues.

regal81455: Thanks for the link about compression, GREAT! It would be "nice" to have an external "knob" to adjust the timing on the fly since it seems to be so dependent on many factors. I don't advocate a lot of electronic controls to confuse you, but it seems this could compensate for variations in fuel, altitude, temperature, and, of course, compression ratio.

What is propylene oxide? (trade name?) Thanks for the info.
Info about Nitro + Methanol... Alcohol and Nitromethane
Some good info about nitro + C/R...
Compression Ratios by TLRMan
Seems after some reading (pain), nitro and high compression don't seem to mix, however, for those with stock (low compression), seems like a consideration for making more power.

There is no trade name per say. Propylene oxide is the scientific name for the chemical and you can buy it straight up by the gallon if you want. Lots of companies use it in their stuff. It's popular in the R/C fuel market and it used to speed the burn of meth.
In my own personal experience it will let me use a safe meth mixture and instead of loading up on the line and spudder out of corners it will burn the mixture on the bottom like it's much leaner.
