hey everyone, i just registered here because one of my friends is having some problems with his blaster. its only been sitting 2 weeks since he last drove it and it was running fine. He got a steel cable wrapped around his axle and it snapped his brake cable lol but thats fixed now. So he went to start it up a few days ago and it idled fine, he let it warm up a bit, and then took it for a spin but its bogging in higher rpms. Before we started tearing into i just wanting to see what you guys thought. He's out getting a new spark plug now and we were going to check the carb, jets, wiring etc. Im pretty sure its something electrical or in the fuel delivery but his father thinks its the cdi box. He explains the problem as "its as soon as it goes into the power band it sputters and like looses power then gains power all while backfiring n sputtering but it doesnt completely shut off"

any help is appreciated

it may need to be tuned or try cleaning the carb idk im stumped ive never had a problem with my blasty like that

i know my blaster does that when the airfilter is super dirty, maybe try cleaning that.
if the problem persists try cleaning out the carb, Maybe drain the fuel and mix a new batch up.
try a new plug also.
start with all the small things

yeah thats what i was thinking carb may be a little gummed up and he said the air filter was clean so we'll see

this ad is bout my quad n i do have to clean the air filter but i jus had the carb apart to check my jet size just last week n the carb was spotless it jus confuesed me b/c it only dus it in high rpms like soon as it hits powerband it starts

Noob here,

Would running a carb cleaner /injector cleaner work before pulling the carb and checking for dirt in the flot bowl? If you do take it apart, get a bread tie or solid core wire and clean all small passages. Also try to adjust the air /fuel mixture screw by screwing it all the way in and then back it out 1.5 revolutions for a rough adjustment and then try to tweak it slowly until your throttle becomes more sensitive and revs up with hesitation. Just my opinion. Fresh gas could never hurt as well.
