Got Rep

I've put out useful nuggets of information to the tune of 11 little green dots.....

The best way to amass reputation is to be useful and helpful. Even being curious and respectful can earn you rep points (if you don't have enough technical knowledge to provide, you can accept it with fervor) because most people give and receive reputation based on their experiences... not just all willy nilly because "someone asked for it".

I think my single biggest jump in reputation was the advice I gave to lap a spun flywheel (sheared key) with valve grinding compound to restore the taper. I believe I got about 300 rep points just for that one...

no one on here has 300 rep points to give..u can only give as many rep as the number above the green boxes

oh yea..no way in hell ill remember who gave the first rep...it was over 3 yrs ago

@blasterfreek: :P on you!

More than one person gave me rep for that nugget of info. I believe Awk gave all he had (which is like 128 in one fell swoop) plus a few more threw in on top of that. All added up, I think it was close to 300 points for a single post.

@ cruelsoul: reputation and feedback are two different things.

Reputation is supposed to be a gauge of how helpful a person is to the general population. More greenz means the person is more helpful.

Feedback (in the classifieds section) is feedback on a transaction. Good, Bad, or Neutral.
