My carb boot just tore on me, and i have a 34mm Mikuni round slide carb and a 38mm Mikuni round slide carb sitting in my shop that arent being used. Was wondering if i should just dish out for another stock size carb boot or go up to one of the bigger carbs. I plan on getting a factory 7 pipe later, and i have the air box lid off w/ a set of boyson dual stage reeds. I am running an injector block off kit.

If i did drop in a bigger carb, what would i need for a throttle cable? I already kno that i will need to mod the airbox to accept the bigger carb, good ol' surplus center :)

Would like to see some recommendations for carb boots though.

I would probably use the 34mm especially if you are going do anymore work on the engine- port and polish. but if all you are going to do is put a pipe on then if it were me I would not change carb. Though some have gone to a bigger carb with a stock engine with a good pipe and they really liked the difference. this is your call and as always let us know what you did and how the changes affected the perfromance.

34mm it is then. Im guessing the SMS intake boot will be my best bet for it. Im still curious on the throttle cable though, anyone wanna help me get going in the right direction?

If i get into some MX racing, a good ol' engine job would probably be in the future.

30-35mm is a good size for a built blaster but unfortunately both of those carbs mentioned are from the stone age. those 70's mikuni roundslides carbs are like putting rabbit ears on your new plasma big screen television ... get a pwk keihin instead.

vito's performance will have them on their site. kb motorsports and rjatv will alos be able to help you- but you will need to call them for the part. I:I

I will probably get one of those later, i just have this carb sitting here right now, haha.

since ur on here flowtec, would u be able to get me in the ballpark for jetting?

the main should be close the pilot should likely fall around a #30
the needle i have no idea ,there must be countless dozens of lean and rich needles that can drasticly change the midrange power also you will have a removable needle dump tube orrifce and those have different sizing that also effects the main circuit jetting i n a big way ,this is why its not always a good idea to just grab a bigger carb in a box under a shelf somewhere and try and use it on your quad ,some of these old mikunis are so adjustable you may never get it right and chasing your tail ,id get a pwk keihin atleast there is a tried and true jetting assortment commonly found and people can help you alot better

if im installin a 36 kehnin... i removed my carb wat about the carb box tht sits on top of carb? remove it??
