Going Nuts

So. Good compression (125), TORS off, filter good, ........

The main might need to be larger, but that isn't going to make it fall on its face immediately off idle. It comes down to fuel or spark.

Recheck that pilot jet. Check the float level. Run it without the filter for a minute, just to be sure. If it runs, spark is less likely but maybe it it weak. Grab the manual and pull out your meter so you can check ignition resistances. Here's a link to the manual in case you haven't got it yet. www.rydindirty.com/blastermanual.pdf

Thanks for the link and I will be doing that after work. I had the pilot jet out lastnight and everything looks good, it is the stock 32.5 so would I need to move it up or down?

That's what is frustrating. You shouldn't have to move it at all witha fairly stock motor. Up, if anything. I just don't see it. And you sprayed through the pilot tube to make sure it comes out in the carb throat too, right?

That makes me lean toward the float level. Should be about 21-22mm, checking the float level on it's side so that the float just barely touches the needle. You don't want to depress the spring loaded needle.

Ok ok. I will check it out tonight and get back to you all later on what I find. I just remembered somthing that I dont think I mentioned earlier. When I have the bike idleing, if the adjustment screw is turned out more then 1 1/2 turns and I give it to much gas it will die, this has happened with any of the jets that I have had and if I have it turned in more then 1 1/2 turn and I give it gas it will rev up but is feels as if it is being governed almost as if I am hitting a rev limiter but the rpm's are not very high. Not sure if it makes a difference of not but I figured I would mention it.

With the tors disconnected at the box, there shouldn't be anything left that has a rev limit function. Unless something shows up in the electrical/stator/coil tests, then it pretty much has to be fuel related.

That touchy idle air screw adjustment is interesting.

Ok now here's the kicker, I ran threw every electrical check in the manual and it all checked out good. The float was good as well. I have worked on alot of dirt bikes and quads but nothing has ever kicked my butt this bad.

Just read the thread and Brando asked about the park brake. I didn't read where you replied. Should disconnect it to eleminate it as a possibilty. Sounds electrical to me also. You are getting a good spark to the plug?

Ok I will look for a thread on disconnecting the park brake and give it a shot. My blaster is a 97, does it have a sensor or anything? Like I said before I am a nood to a blaster and as far as I can tell the slide is only supposed to go in one way. Also I am getting good spark as well.

I tore into the blaster and I pulled the plastic front cover off and under I found 2 disconnected plugs, one was a three wire and the other was a two wire and I could not find anywhere to plug them into. Now I would be willing to bet that one of them was the tors and the other the park brake? The two wire had a yellow with a black stripe and a black. The three plug had a yellow with black stripe, a black, and a black with white strip.

one was TORS, and i believe the other was for the key switch

if you have a 97 it won't have the parking brake sensor to my knowledge, that was just the 03-06.

Yeah a 97 doesn't have the parking brake switch, so no prob there. The two wire most likely went up to the throttle switch, not the key switch (disconnected is fine) and the three wire plug went to the TORS box (fine too). Just tape those up and forget about them. Your TORS is gone.

Is there any chance that the black/white wire was grounding out up there somewhere? That is the kill line. While you are at it, use your meter to check between that wire and ground. With the key switch on, you should not have continuity or any resistance reading to ground (should be infinity).

okay mine did the same thing for a couple days after i sub merged it to the handle bars , here somthing weird though i tip the quad allmost all the way over on its side and it ran fine for a second then when it flip back down it was doin it again ,,,,,,but mines a 06 blaster ,,,, its hard to explain its electrical for shore
