Well I noticed today that I have a blown head gasket. Not a huge deal since I was planning to pull the motor as part of my rebuild anyway. I have a Ken Oconnor redesigned head to install. Also installing new Boyesen reeds and areed spacer to fit my new OKO carb. My local Yamaha dealer stocks all the factory gaskets and the prices are not terrible. My questions are: Should I use all factory gaskets (head, base, intake, clutch cover) or are there better aftermarket kits? Will I need 2 intake gaskets or 3 for the reeds, spacer and intake boot?

oem or cometic..cometic base are thinner so it will effect port timing and compression, which may be good or bad depending on your setup..when in doubt use the oem or ask Ken

you will need 3 gaskets for the reed, spacer, and carb boot. i had to use 3 anyway on my spacer and airstriker.

The nimwit that owned my blaster before me put a gasket between the boot and reed cage. Took me forever to scrape the old one off the boot and so i tried putting a new one between there and it leaked. I ended up leaving it out seems how the boot has a few flange like seals built in and no more leakage. Iv'e heard oem are the best but what do i know.
