fuel mixing???

so i've got a 01 blaster, bored .025 over, new forged piston, full toomey exhaust
I just got it the other day, the previous owner said he was running 44:1 mix gas with 87 octane....
i filled it with 32:1 mix with premium octane (think its 98??)
and today it wouldnt run to save it's life. spittin sputtering, backfiring, bogging out... pulled the spark plug, changed trans oil nothing helped.
I put some 40:1 gas in it, FIRES RIGHT UP.... WTF??? everyone told me run at least 32:1... But could it be that it's setup to run 44?????????

i wouldnt run more or less than 32:1, seems to be tried and true. has your carb been rejeted since those mods? what do you have in there for a main jet?

he said he upgraded the jet, after boring the cylinder out.
he was running 44, and my 32 wouldnt run for sh*t.....
might have more in the engine than we know of, could have more work done. It just would not run whatsoever at 32:1, i uploaded a video on my Noob thread, you can ehar it try, then backfire

yea cuz he has it tuned to that mix and when you altered the mix it dint run right. Either run his mix or tune for the 32:1

40:1 is fine. Thats what I run. No problems. Check out my mods in my sig. the 94 has a 300 main jet and the 01 has a 280 main jet. Both run great.

Run 32:1 would be best. You have to change the jetting, I told you that could be one of the causes. Also premo gas is like 91 to 93. Some places have 94

I also run 40:1 in mine without any issues. I'm running a ported, stroked 240 on 110 octane.

wow ok so i've got 40:1 gas in it right now, seems to be running better. prolly go to his 44:! on the next tank. I dont feel like changing out jets and tuning just to run 32

stroker, is that leaded 110 octane?
if so, that is like having premix oil in it.
