I plan on running an in-line lawn mower type filter, and wonder if the filter will catch or try to separate the oil from the fuel? Or will it all just flow through? Sorry for the n00b question, but its not something I ever had to think about with 4 strokes.

im running the same right now seems to be fine. i just checked out my plug color that will tell you. mine is a darkis gray so do it up

Maybe a better question would be; if fuel filters can potentially cause oil separation issues, at what micron level does it occur?

The answer to that is yes they can but the micron level that it would occur on would me somewhere between 10 and 2 (which is a hydraulic filter). You should have no issues if you are going to use a universal lawn mower style fuel filter as long as you have good fuel and a good 2 stroke oil.
