Hi guys.
Thanks to your great answers i decieded to forget the bore/hone of my stock cylinder.......

The thing i wanna do instead is a great port/polish job on the stock cylinder, but i have a few questions regarding this.....

The cylinder gets the port/polish yes... but is there anything i need to do with my stock piston? (my plan is to only dis-mount the cylinder and ship it for tweaking, so if i can leave the piston mounted I would be happy.)

When i get this port job will I gain anything in having the head milled/ shaved? What´s the up and downside by doing this?

What the best combo in this specific application.. port job AND head? or only port job? My goal is max power but also reliability and no need for special gasoline... I normally run unleaded 95.

yeah, i just got a head shaved to .025" its the max you can go without running race gas, i reccomend running premium if you get it done.

oh yeah you will be like wtf! i awoke the beast, ask anyone with a port job, shaved head, and some goodies, they will all tell you the diff is phenomenal, all you got to do is let it breathe!

basically , theirs 3 different kind of porting, dune port, mx/trail port, and drag port.
Pick whatever one suits you.
i wouldn't get the head shaved more then .025.
But it is a good idea to get it redesigned at the same time as the port job.

You might get away with just putting new rings on your piston if its running good now.
if not, you might have to look into a new piston and get your cylinder bored to that size.

The stock carb with work good, but in the future upgrade to a 30mm and you will notice a difference.

Also if you don't have a high flow air filter i would suggest getting one.

basicaly the port job gives you top end/mid range power, but takes away from bottem end "grunt" and the head shaved gives you more compression, thus giving bottom end whare the port work took it away, the port job will take away 5-10 psi of compression, and having the head shaved will compinsate for that loss

Ok so what can we conclude is the best shave?! for the stock cylinder...

one say max 0.035" another say i wouldnt go over 0.025"...

What do you think is the best?????

specialized7 : You say redesign head to go with porting.. how do you mean redesign? Isn it just a dome chamber in the head? if I was gonna make that bigger i loose compression again ? ..

im just going by with what i have, it runs like a top, if you are going to have it ported and go with the trail port, this is me because i ride trails, and anything over.035 has to run race gas, mine was done by summit racing, when you send your top end to whever does the porting ask them what they reccomend for your style of riding, its all about you and any one of the guys on here will do a great job, wildcard2 kennedy, or flotek, none of them have bad reviews on their work, so go with what they say would be good for your style of riding. no one here can really tell you what to do on it, they can reccomend but it is up to you and the person you have do your porting for you to make you happy. imo

Mine is redesigned 2mm (you have to then "bore" the head gaskets to whatever size your piston is) with my setup the powerband hits so hard it feels like im on a bike.. it picks the front wheels up when shifting from 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd Im loving it, I have about 170psi with this setup, stock stroke, and stock carb. It can get expensive but like they said wildcard, flotek, or kennedy can hook you up. Just be willing to pay ( and its sooo worth it)

yeah put a 34mm carb some vf3's and an lrd with that, lol, thats what i have! you want to see hitting hard, mine will right out of the gate throw the wheels in the air threw 3rd! i love it!

2smoker85:

You had your head milled 0.035" .. is that without changing ignition, timing and whatsoever! .. i need something that just bolt on and works! ..

What i mean is get at great port job and the head milled.. mount it and ride..

WILL that be possible with the .035" ? or should i choose 0.030" to be sure?

yeah hows that thing run with 170 psi? i have 145 psi now and have to run 93 or it chatters with a load

no mine wasn't done to .035, it was .025, you can't go over .035 without running race gas, with .035 you will have about 150 psi

yeah ive read about it, i can get my head shaved for free im just trying to get it shaved the most without using race gas, the thinner gaskets i have put me at 145 lbs, i wonder what the max i could shave it is? stock compression is 130, so im guessing 20 over? should give me around 165

Premium only? is that unleaded 95? i always use that...

So, you guys mean if i get a good port / polish job AND shave the head .030" it will be a great combo???

thats almost the same as my setup , but i have a +3mm stroker with the port to match and head milled .030 and its runs absolutly SICK!!!I:II:I
