The blaster I have, under the assumption I can get it running, has an FMF gold fatty pipe, with a stock silencer. Looking to upgrade that, if all goes well with the new carb. Any suggestions. Power is the main goal, somthing that will complement the gold.

I wouldn't suggest a larger carb yet. Proper jetting is the key.. As far as a silencer most of the time it's best to go with the same maker so go with an fmf silencer..

If you trail ride, get the US Forestry approved silencer. Don't want any tickets. And thats probably why the stock can was used.

The Fatty is designed for low/mid range so why not try to keep the power where the pipe is designed to work best.

A larger carb will benefit the top end of the power range but to keep the Fatty happy the stock 26mm carb is your best bet.

A reed spacer block placed between the reeds and cylinder will tend to move the power down into the lows.

More low movement can be obtained with a +4 timing advance.

If you are planning to run a bigger carb then you should get a pipe that favours mid/top to complement it.

Plug chop to confirm your jetting.

I've got the FMF SST pipe and it's designed for mid/high. I've got pretty good low end power though. I think the previous owner ported it.

Not upgrading, the blaster I ..... well long story short got stuck with was suppose to have an electrical problem, which it did. But once I went to make adjustments I noticed the throttle cable was all the way backed out and still slacked. Essentially the needle slide got seized up. so its a stock Mikuni, which I am a fan of prior to having a blaster and dirtysquared hooked me up with a new one, so not upgrading it, just replacing. And low to mid end power range is what I'm all about. And Blaaster, already have a 4 degree advance, benefit to my poor diagnosis because of the tors. And now I guess the TORS was doing what it was suppose to after seeing that needle slide.

And blaaster I need some knowledge on reed valves. Its essentially like valves on a 4 stroke, but since its a 2 stroke they work off pressure or vacuum to open and close them?

So stick within the FMF family? because there is no FMF gold spark arrestor. Again sound doesn't mean alot to me, just want to utilize what I've got. So then whats FMFs best?

got a new bad ass job, whats the best. My old blaster use to get whooped by my buddies stock 400ex. I sold my 400ex to my buddy now, and I dont want a repeat of the old experiences.

As the piston goes up a partial vacuum is produced and the reeds open to allow a fresh charge of air/fuel mixture to enter the crankcase.

When the piston then starts is downward stroke it begins to compress the air/fuel mix and the reeds now close, the result is the air/fuel mix is now forced up the transfer ports to above the piston, into the combustion chamber.

The entire process then starts again.
