Hello,

Does anyone know the outside diameter and thread size of a flywheel puller? The part that threads into the flywheel. I am considering doing the timing advance mod and figure it is easier to make a puller, than order one and wait a week for it to arrive.

Thanx and have a great day,

Rob.

well you cant make one unless you pretty much got a fabrication shop pretty much id go to the local dealer or shop and ask to buy one or stop by with the bike and have them pull it real fast and go if they are reasonable guys they should do that for free id hope

I think you can easily make it from a bolt and doing some drilling and tapping. That is why I am asking because this route is much easier than ordering one and waiting for a week.

id hate to buy one or make one cuz it could be hard some welding and you would need one big tap for the part that screws in the flywheel then you have the bolt that ya screw in the middle that you would tap on with a hammer when tightened to knock flywheel lose so if you make one let me know how it went please but if you could id call the local dealer and see if you could borrow one real quick and bring right back either way let me know how it goes ......

Dude,

This is my plan. Get the right size bolt, with the same thread as the inside of the flywheel. Drill a hole, or maybe 2 through this bolt, longitudinally. May try on a drill press, if not on a lathe. Thread the hole you just drilled with 3/8 or whatever size is required. Bingo you are done. Easy. Just need to know the thread size of the flywheel to make this work.

Have a great day,

Rob.

If you go to Advanced auto..the Rent a kit out for those kinds of pullers..all diffferent sizes in the kit to..its like 50$ but you get your money back when you return it..Doesnt pay to buy one

my buddy has a shop down the road "hetricks racing" and they just let me stop in to use tools like that whenever so im sure your local yamaha dealer or a reguler shop would just let you use it real fast if ya pull up with it in the back of a truck cause its not like you have to pull your flywheel off all the time

Thanx guys for the info!!! Will see what I can find. We have some pretty good fastener supply houses around. Will post on how it works out.

Have a great day,

Rob.
