well guys after waiting and waiting and looking around for the right deal, i finally found it! it is a 1989 Suzuki Quadrunner 300 2wd. the tires on it are basically new, it starts up and runs perfect and idles flawlessly. only things it needs is a starter (all it does is click when you try the starter, may just be a short haven't checked yet) and a rear axle housing (the one on it is cracked as you will see in pics and it causes the rear end to shift. the left wheel is farther forward than the right in the pics). he gave me this fourwheeler plus 350 to boot (but i gave 150 of the boot back because he is a good friend of mine and i would hate for something else to be wrong with the bike that i might have missed so this way he has money to fix it plus anything else that might pop up).

more!

^^^ in the last pic what is that little thing on the carb? i thought it was the choke at first because it pulls out like one but the choke is on the handlebars so that can't be it and i have been using it on the handlebars and it always works because if it is warm and you use it on the handlebars it kills it. anybody got any suggestions?

thanks man! it runs beautifully and i can ride it the way it is but after you get so far the chain pops off so i'm just waiting on my rear end to come in, i found complete rear end (swingarm, axle housing, axle, and hubs) all for 100 dollars but it weighs about 90 pounds so shipping was 95 dollars haha. and as for it needing a starter, that really doesn't matter alot it has the pull start, it is easy to pull, and it starts easy. how is your yfz coming along?

Your starter isnt bad, its your relay. Jump both terminals from your relay shorting the two with a screwdriver. If it starts by jumping the two, replace your relay.

alright man thanks i'll try that! all i know is my friend said he thought it was the starter but it starts fine with the pull start. if that doesn't work i'll let you guys know if i find a short or anything.

the thing on the handle bars sounds like a hot start to me is it a lever

no it is not like a hot start, you know how some chokes are on the handlebars and you pull them out to turn the choke on? well this one is sort of like that except instead of pulling out it turns down to turn on the choke. i have had the choke off while the fourwheeler was running and tried pulling out the thing in the last pic and it doesn't effect the way it runs any so i can't figure it out.

a clicking starter is sometimes a sign of just a weak battery, check the water levels in the cells, and the voltage
my little nephews raptor 80 was doin the same thing, seems they cooked the water out of it by overcharging it, added a little water, ran it a while to charge it, works good now

the thing on your carb could be a primer. it is used on cold days to prime the motor with fuel. like on chainsaws where you have that "bubble" you push like twice before you start it.

also clicking is a sign of a weak battery. it isn't getting enough volts/power to engage the relay.

from what i can tell the battery is perfectly fine. it has a 300 dollars headlight on it and with the fourwheeler turned off if i turn on the light it is VERY bright so could it really be the battery? and first off before i can do anything to it i have to find the battery, it might be under the seat for all i know but i can't figure out how to get the seat off this thing!

i'd also look for loose/dirty connections at the solenoid and starter, eliminate all other possible causes before buying a relay or starter

that is what i thought might be wrong with it was a short or a bad connection, but i have to figure out how to get the seat off before i can do anything with it... got any ideas?

just an update..... i haven't checked the connections or the relay on the starter yet as i've either not had time or it has been snowy, cold, and icy so i can't really do alot..... i REALLY need to hurry and extend the shed, close it in, and run some heating and cooling vents to it haha.
