Finally found a quad in my price range and a good deal.

I looked at that qaud and it is trash.. The case cracked and was jb welded back,the rear axle is stripped on some threads. The whole clutch assembly needs replaced and the bars are bent.
bummer...dont no wat ta tell you...but its still in better condition then the thing you wanna buy
Nope,if you seen it in person you would laugh. The cases jb weld is all messed up and leaks oil. Stufss bent and stripped,he said the frame is tweeked,the steering stem is bent,the plastics are stiched all over. Id need over 700 to make it safe to even ride. Figure,new case,frame,axle,stem,bars, it adds up quick.
Im not a beatuy queen,if it moves and works ill ride it.
a grand seems steep for a project to me but if if makes you happy doittoit. my blaster was a big project when i got it but i only paid fifty bucks for a rolling chassis and went from there. i have replaced all the bearings and seals rebuilt a-arms ect. ect. all thats left is getting my cylinder bored out and she is ready. total cost will be about $350-$400ish.I:I
Youll have tonput some money into it to get it fast but is possible. I got my 250x for 600 but it had bigger a arms extended swinger wide axle works shocks exhaust pumper carb etc....already on it. I spent another 600 rebuilding the engine with a 12:1 piston, web cam, crank and gaskets and stuff and it kills my blaster.
Even though a valve stem broke yesterday on me....lol I should have replaced the 20 year old valves when I rebuilt the engine.
I'd pass on those 2 quads and wait till something modded comes around.

If I was gonna spend that much I'd personally wait for something better. You said you are going to be making some money in the summer then why not just save some of that up and get a quad that you can just get on and go. And as far as tinkering I'm sure whatever quad you decide on and it will eventually break so you'll have plenty of tinker time haha. All quads break its just how it is.
But i wont be making the money untill august.... And like i have said i like 300ex's and they are plenty fast for me. And ive been wanting a qaud to ride and a project qaud on the side and this would be perfect.

Yeah i like 300ex's i dont ride for speed or racing,just backyard/woods fun and an occasional lap at my friends track. I would love a 400ex but there just way out of my price limit in this aera. And if i get these ill have a good one to ride and one i can build up over time for my friend to ride when he comes over. Its going to happen ahah.

Since you're going to be replacing the rings, you might as well replace the valves, valve guides and seals too. hope the projects work out for you, good luck
To tell you the truth i dont think its the rings. He said its only when you start it and its for like 5 seconds,he said the gas is around a year old since he has drivven them in a while so i think that is it,since my friends warrior did the same with bad gas.
