Any recomendations on a good filling product to fill some light gouges/scratches on my fenders before paint or am I better off to just get differant plastics. I'm in iowa so yearly temp swings from -25 to 105 deg F.

Thanks,
David

i use bondo-glass. it is heavy, but it is 3x stronger than regular bondo and is a little bit flexable. it is a biotch to sand and people use other things but thats just what i used. you can also sand them out if theyre light enough

gotcha, that's what i was leaning towards, just didn't know if there was an epoxy like filling that would be more flexible.

Got any pics?
My rears were destroyed when I got them but with some sanding, buffing, they look new.

Yea, sanding and buffing will get them like new. I took a heat gun after sanding it too which helped.

I noticed some gouges after I shaved my front fenders, so I used some of the leftover scrap fender material, and heated it up to where it was hot and goopy then filled in the gouges putting the plastic on the edge of a razor blade, then leveled it off by sweeping the razor blade over the gouge. From there just sand, heat gun,and buff. I actually noticed I need to do it again after cleaning the Blaster the other day. It needs it.

Interesting method that could save some time.
Can we gets some pics now :p
You got any pics of what you did LRD?

I am in the process of removing the rhino lining that the previous owner applied to the plastics before i picked up the full set for $50. the rhino lining came off pretty easily but only to find they painted them blue on the white plastics.
Now i have tried many methods to removing paint and filling dents and dings, but the best way i have found is the edge of a razor and a little heat to smooth out the spots. (key is to warm the plastic not melt it) it takes some hours but its worth it to have a set of good looking plastics.

so are the plastic pieces the natural color of the plastic and not painted from factory?? that's what i suspected.
