False Neutral

Ok I'm stumped. While I was at Silver Lake I had to switch engines because my big engine somehow developed a false neutral. At first I thought no big deal I probably just bent a shift fork. So today I split the case to take a look and noticed that the forks look fine. I'm not sure what else could be responsible for a false "N", any ideas? May also have something to do with my clutch. maybe its slipping or something, but it only seemed to be happening in 3rd or 4th gear cant remember which one. I would try to hold it at a constant speed going through the parking lot at about half throttle and the power kept surging like I was revving it and popping the clutch. I thought maybe the tranny was popping in and out of gear somehow being partially engaged. I dont know maybe my clutch just finally gave up on me.

check out the shift drum shift star,if that arm with the roller is not aligned it can do this also a bent shift shaft can cause issues under power as well

^^x2 check your shaft.

i once had issues and it took me quite a while before i realized a small piece on the very end of the shaft had broken off causing the forks to stick between gears, like a "false neutral"

Well I did try to "mod" my shift star by rounding a little off the points, could this cause a problem?

did you round that one that had a detent negative radius and no point
