Factory7 air box?

The mounting is far superior to a CFM ... though as far as differences in how they work ... I dont think there is any ... as said above though whats in it matters so throw a UNI in there regardless. The CFM can be easily modded to mount better there is many ways and it is much cheaper leaving money for other mods

I run a CFM box myself, but was not impressed with it. I'm going to try an F7 airbox with my next build. The CFM box clings on for dear life with one little bolt, which holds it to one of the tabs on your frame where the oil injector bottle used to attach.

The other side of the box simply has a bolted-on lug which is supposed to jam in between your frame rails. Stupid. Needless to say it doesn't fit properly. I can't believe nobody has engineered a better setup for CFM. Oh, well. The advantage of the CFM is that its cheaper, still looks good, has a nice thick rubber boot which fits well against the carburetor, and good 'ol fashioned worm clamps to secure everything. The F7 box uses a clunky sort of band clamp which you can't get loose with just a screwdriver. My .02.

The F7 box flows better than the CFM but costs twice as much.

The CFM tubing makes sharp turns compared to the F7 box

I made a custom mounting for my CFM.

the f7 box will not allow using the 400ex or 450r rear shock, the outlet comes out at such an angle, there isnt room for a rezzie shock

cfm, with custom mounts....ftw
i made 4 small angled aluminum mounts and they bolt to the side of the box, then under the back 4 fender mounts, been on there for 2 very hard years, and cost me about $5

I have a cfm mounts good. I had to make a lil braked tho i can make you one for 5$ shipped and will be a bolt on fit and is adjustable. I got mine used but i love it i dont like the look of a f7

F7 airbox, it does allow space for a rezzie, i would get the f7 , ive never liked the sharp bend on the cfm box, too angled, the f7 flows better

after seeing dareals, i'm gonna say whittey has a 450r shock with the offset rezzie, not the 400 ex with the evenly positioned 400ex rezzie, looks aweful tight in there for a 400 ex shock

dareal, your elka doesnt count as you positioned it where needed, unlike the shock mounted 400/450's

Ok, and i wish that was my elka lol, thats not my bike, i only got the stage 1 front elkas.

I purchased the whole f7 air box with a white brothers pod filter and the outer wears cover shipped to my door for 125.00. I got this setup cheaper than I could have gotten the cfm box for. they will not sell it for less than 100.00 shipped then the k&n filter was close to 30.00 shipped. So the price difference was real close. I like the looks of the f7 better than the plane cfm box. Pics when it gets home.
