exhaust question

Ive been doing some disassembly on my blaster engine to go over things. When I took off the exhaust today I was expecting to see a gasket but there wasnt one. Should there be a gasket where the exhaust attaches to the engine? Also anyone know the best method to clean up an fmf fatty pipe. Thanks for any help.

there's just a small round gasket that sits in a groove in the exhaust port. and the FMF is probably beyond polishing to the 2nd bend, but i use steel wool with turtle wax rubbing compound on rough stuff, followed by steel wool with mothers, and then finish it off with using a terry towel with some mothers.

yes go you your dealer and tell them you need an exhaust gasket....
