hey i have a 2002 yamaha blaster and its idles fine but when you put it into gear and start to get going at about half throttle in both gears it starts to bog and backfire and i cleaned the carb, new plug, new air filter and, tried adding crank case oil and that did nothing anyone have any ideas?

its pretty bad and its not rideable like this and im new at atvs and all so how do i check the flat bowl level and main jet

ok i have compression but i dont know where the reeds are to see if i even have them and the gas is mixed correctly

yea the oil is blocked off and i ran on regular gas could that be it should i use high octane

is there a leak in the reed cage boot thing? bad gasket somewhere around the reed cage, and also check if you have compression

Do you have reeds? if so, I would check them too. if not, then idk what else it could be.

LMAO gotta love noobs. no offence.

if you don't have reeds at all, that is definately the source of your problem lol.
the reeds are bolted to the jug right in front of the carb. take the carb off and remove the 4 10mm bolts then pull the reeds out. check for cracks, chips and warping (make sure the reeds seal to the cage all the way around).

while you have the carb off, clean it and check the float level. the diy section of the forum is your friend. search it and use the manuals that are stickied there.

if this doesn't solve your problem, check the woodruff key in your flywheel, might be sheared, throwing the timing off.

idk wat to tell u bro. i back fire sometimes when i kickstart it. but thats just about it. and it sounds more like a sneeze than anything. back firing is usually caused from running to high of an octane. like i run a lil bit of race fuel in mine from time to time cuz i like to feel the difference. thats when i back fire. thats all i kno. u wat kinda gas u run? and u got an oil block?
