I've fully rebuilt this blaster and have it up and running awesome!but I bought a used wiring harness that had been modded.it wasn't running a headlight on either setup but id like to.what wires and from where do I derive the power for headlights.also what exactly do I need to do to run these walmart headlights I see looking killer on you guys blasters? Thanx and ill be posting pics shortly of the before and after

the walmart headlights you simply get the yellow and green wires from your switch and wire it to 1 wire from each light. then you wire the 2 remaining wires to the included ground wire and find somewhere to ground it.

Ok well I'm not running an ignition switch I have a tether switch.and that had been wired in prior to me getting this harness.basically I need to know what wires straight from the stator.also what's a safe wattage of lights to get I live out in the sticks and will likely get a cheap set off ebay or may even have an old set off and old car ill have to look.

Thanks I appreciate it anyone else know the correct wires.also I plan to run a toggle switch so they're not running in the day time do I need to wire in a relay as you would for any automotive application?don't need or want a fire lol

Come on guys!someones gotta know.with all the experience on this forum I find it hard to belive no one knows about a simple wiring setup for lighting.or dare I say I've stumped the pros?lol

And the gauntlet is thrown down....

You didn't say before that you didn't have a light switch. That isn't quite the same as not having an ignition switch or key switch. The wire you want is yellow with a red stripe (Y/R) coming from the stator. That is straight from the lighting coil. You will need to have a voltage regulator wired into the circuit too, if that has been removed. If it is still there then just pickup the Y/R up by the handlebars and run that to your switch. If you need to wire it in, just connect the blue (L) from the regulator to the Y/R , and ground the box or other wire.

Might want to check out the diagram on pg 7-1 of the manual, too, but this ^^^ should be what you are asking for.

I still have a voltage regulator its the little black box under the front hood correct?so I derive power from there for the lights and just ground the negatives of the 2 lights to a spot on the frame if I'm reading and comprehending the write up in the diy section correct?

That blue and red/yellow wires are not hooked up.do I simply connect the 2 then run my power right off that?I'm very confused that y/r wire comes straight from the stator it appears and that's where I connected for power and it keeps popping the lights.I don't think the regulator is wired in.please help

i would just throw that harness in the garbage and get a differant one off egay... if you cant connect anything up to the power without blowing thing either your regulator is not hooked up or not working. how about this.. what IS hooked up and working on this "modded" harness lol?

Yes, the yellow/red should go all the way from the stator to the lights. The blue wire from the regulator needs to be connected to the yellow/red also. That is how the regulator works, by shunting some of the power to ground.

So, if you have a yellow/red up at the lights, use that to power them. If you also have a yellow/red down by the regulator, hook the blue from the regulator to that. Otherwise, run a wire from the blue on the regulator up to where you are hooking up the yellow/red and connect it there.

Because I don't want a fire are you sure I just connect the y/r to the blue then power up the lights off of the two after being butt connected?as for the harness its not butchered or anything actually the only two wires that aren't connected are the y/r and the blue wire those have been capped off.thanks guys I appreciate it!

I'm positive, but why don't you look at the wiring diagram and see for yourself? The diagram is on pg 7-1 and the legend is on pg 7-2 of the manual. Obviously you are reluctant to do so. Maybe you think you can't read a wiring diagram? Study it for about 5 minutes or so and it will start to make sense.....all the lines represent wires.

Actually bro I'm on a droid phone and for some reason it won't let me download the file idk y but it won't.ok well iill try running the y/r and blue together and power up the lights I hope it works these lights are 5 a pop and now I'm out 10 bucks soooo that sux but thanx I appreciate the help

the voltage regulator is the silver flatish box on the throttle side of the bike . and if you dont have this hooked up you can fry your stator.
