Im not sure if anyone in other countries are effected by this,but id like to know. The U.S. is really sucking right now,theres talks of it getting better each month,but i dont see it. Jobs are so hard to come by,atleast here in New Jersey they are. So id like to know how things are where everyone is from.


Reason for this thread is bc ive been working at a hospital for the last 3 years,and ppl have been getting laid off left and right. But none in my deparment yet. Im a Boiler Tech/Engineer. We had a briefing this morning and there were mentions of layoffs in my department. Which sucks,bc im one of the last hires,which was 3 years ago. The thing is i have more exp. then 80% of the ppl working. Im only 25 but have been in the field since i was 15. Hopefully i wont be one of the unlucky ones. Bc i know i cant live off my side job,which is a part time logo designer for Ecko Unltd. clothing. Now im stressing and this really sucks.

well around here it has improved slightly my dad has got his job back at GM thank you Obama. cant say the same for the rest of the area. if Issue 3 passes we Ohio should get a lot more money pouring in. If you dont know what issue 3 is its about building casinos in ohio. if it passes about 34,000 jobs wil be created

Yepp i know what issue 3 is,news is on all day at work,lol But yea thats cool ur dad got his job back,i know hes happy...even tho hes making sh*tty GM! lmao JP. We have Atlantic City here,and that gives a bunch of jobs. But not in a field id wanna make a career out of. Ive been talking with my dad and thinking of going into a boiler inspection biz of our own..just takes time,money,and hard work. So thats in the air for now.
 
I feel ya man, I got laid off a little over a week ago. Didn't really care since I'm planning on leaving for basic training in three weeks. I took a voluntary lay off since I had the Air Force already lined up and that would mean that one of my friends would get to keep their job. But today my boy gets sick and it looks like it might be the flu. He's at the hospital right now. I hope its not the H1N1, even though my insurance is still in effect, the meds they perscribe for H1N1 are still 50 bux, and I wont be getting an un-employment check for a couple weeks. Not to mention I'm pretty sure If I get H1N1 wont be leaving for basic any time soon. Which means no insurance and no income soon. And lets not even mention the fact that H1N1 is some scary sh!t.
 
That really sucks best of luck to you. I was laid off from my job little over two months ago and finding new work has been very hard for me. This damn economy is hurting everyone young and old, and its not improving....
 
Well over here our new POS governor has laid off 16,000+ and counting of public workers and bout a week ago someone threw an egg at him lol. So you do the math now.

Damn man,well 1st things 1st,best of luck in the Air Force,i come from a military family,and going for basic in March. 2nd. deff hope ur son doesnt have H1N1,like u said it is some scary sh*t,but also getting more in conrtol of,meds are pricey..but work well. Can bargin meds $$ for health,which does suck when jobs are scarce.

i got laid off in april and the funny thing is i was there for a month shy of 7 yrs and the other guys in my dept has only been there 3...i have been able to get cash from side jobs (mowing and such) and unemployment helps but now that winter is comming its gunna be tight....no jobs to speak of unless you want 7 slices an hr and i can get by with that....so ya there is my story

yea man same here,i have a wife,house,son,dumb dog,and a costly car rebuilding/selling habit.lol so the whole project blaster the wife give me an "allowance" for..lol which is good in a way cause id end up blowing my money. You said 7$ an hour are what jobs pay there??? Holy sh*t..i wouldnt even open my eyes for that low of pay. My full time job im making 32$hr and my wife is a nurse and makes close to my pay and we are just getting by without being paycheck to paycheck as is. Then again the cost of living is way diffrent to.
 
economy is quite weird in the uk for me the last 10 months was the busiest period my fathers buisness (that i work for) has ever had right up until a month ago where we totally hit a brick wall,i was laid off for about 3 weeks during this:( no its touch and go wether i can get a days work now.

although my mom has been making some smart investments that have started to double her money back already.

that was smart of ur mom,i would double my money but that would in some illegal narcotics...lol cant be doin that with a family.
 
I'm from Michigan where the nations highest unemployment is, I've personally been laid off since January, but they brought me back for three weeks this month and said they are going to bring back again in a few days, i don't know for how long though. the auto companies are slowly starting to spend money again which has in turn created more construction work which is where we come in.
