has any body ever cut apart the head pipe? because i want to cut mine apart and see what is inside of it. right now the $$ funds are a little tight. to see i could get a little more pep out of the head pipe.

I think somebody has done this a long time ago (blasterfreek?) but I haven't seen one cut up. Yeah, do it! Lots of people on here who haven't seen one would probably like to see how Yamaha does the baffling in there.
But if I understand your question correctly, are you going to try to cut it open, 'gut' it, and weld it back together to try to get more power?!
Anything's possible, but I'll be the first to opinionate that that's a waste of time. You won't see much (if any) gain in power. You can find a good used FMF exhaust on ebay for a touch over $ 100.00 if you do some looking.

Stock pipe with removed baffles. Been used to describe DG pipes. And DG pipes are not known to make power.
ya i fig that i would see some baffles in there but hell im going to cut it open just for the hell of it and yes im going to gut it i did the tail pipe already i noticed a little diff very small but hey
Well it won't hurt anything to gut it. It may change the sound some.

Well hold on there i might be wrong. Where are the pics in that thread?
The head pipe on an expansion chamber is the section that goes from the motor to the first cone.
hopefully some time this week i will cut into my head pipe and gut it and weld it back together for yall and let u know if there is any performance gains to it but hey u never know till u try it
