Does this sound right?

I got my blaster jetted a little better today. I got it so it will idle good even at very low RPMs. But after I got the idle down I heard something that concerns me a bit. I can only describe it as a clatter. My hearing is very poor so I am having trouble figuring out what the sound is coming from. maybe you guys can help me out:"> I'm not sure if its normal or not. I have heard it in some other vids on you tube so maybe I'm just being a bit paronoid. it sounds to me like metal on metal but it also sounds like its coming from the head or the pipe chamber. I know that probably sounds stupid but my hearing sucks so what do you expect

What piston are you using? Wisecos have alot more slap and make more noise than OEM.

sounds like piston slap to me but its hard to tell, if its piston slap it prably wont do it at higher rpm's, just at idle it will be the worst, do a compression test and see what you get, but my vote is its piston slap

yeah, there a little louder due to being lighter, just like the light wieght makes them go up and down faster to give better throttle responce it also lets them moove other directions if theres space to

mine sounds like that too i thught something was wrong because i never noticed it before now i feel stupid because ive been trying everything to get it to stop lol

umm... its not a good thing... piston slap is when theres room for the piston to slap the cylinder walls, it means the rings are worn

mine makes the same noise.. i have a high compression piston and head gasket.it only make the noise at idle. some kid the other day was like you need new bearings.. and im like OK.. the kids an retard he works at jiff lube changing oil. anything he touches breaks

Nope brand new rings, still breaking it in. As far as piston to wall clearance its still well within spec I checked it with a feeler gauge before I installed it. An no the cylinder is not out of round. I just did a youtube search for yamaha blaster walk around it seems that they all make this sound to some extent. some are just a lil' bit louder than others.

yeah it just sounded a little overly loud in the vid though, if its all right then it has to be ok..lol

yeah, sence you have the rubber vibration blocks taken off your cylinder it will be a lil louder i forgot bout that

piston slap defently isnt good, to me, it does sound a bit noisey and rattly. mine sounds very tight and clean. if i ever get the parts to get her running again, ill get a sound clip up.
