Does my Blaster need to be rejetted?

Hey guys. I finally got the rest of the parts in for my Blaster to get it running right. So, as far as I know, the engine mods are as follows. 30mm OKO carb, CFM box with a uni filter, Vito's 240cc big bore kit, VForce3 reeds, LRD exhaust, and the plug is an NGK running a 0.025" gap. I am not sure if this quad needs to be rejetted though. I have never ridden a two stroke before, but to me it seems like it is low on power in the lower rpm range, almost like it is bogging down although its not. I compare it to driving a turbocharged car (as I drive a wrx), similar to the feeling when the wastgate opens and a sh*tload of power comes on. The quad does smoke a little out of the exhaust (a light haze which loads up at idle), but not enough that it is pesky or bothersome. It has loads of power on top end with no bogging problems. I pulled the plug out today after a ride and it was black, however it was not wet. I could wipe the black off of the threads though. I do not know much about jetting in these quads, however I pulled the jet that sits in the center of the carb out ( I believe it is either the pilot or main jet?) and it said 148 on it, while the smaller one next to it said 40. Does anybody have a clue what I should do here? I'm pretty sure its running rich due to spark plug color and the smoke, but could it be too rich that I'm losing power?

well with that setup you should be lean with those jets. I would think you would be more like 160 main and 50 pilot. but the way you defined the quads power is exactly how a two stroke acts not much power down low but in the powerband it'll scare the shnit outa ya.

Is it ported? What number plug? Is this riding for break-in? What kind/ratio oil?

When a 2s hits the power band it's like a turbo kicking in!!

The quad is not ported as far as I know of I:I haha... it has a bm9es in it. This is not riding for break in, just breaking in the new airbox... it ran fine with the stock airbox on it before. I have been using a 32:1 oil mix as recommended at a dealer for premix. I am using siklolene oil, although I am considering switching to my Echo premix oil (even though its for power equipment) because I sell Echo equipment, and I think it's a somewhat better oil :P

That's what I was thinking... I thought it was a little lean but it smokes and still leaves the plug a little black so I'm guessing it has to be rich. And oh that's crazy I never knew that lol.... thanks ! Know of any ways to get better power down low? I am considering having the vito's head ported or maybe a stroker crank and the head machined?

i would richen up quite a bit, id also say about a 50 pilot and 160 +- main. but jetting is not hard and fast, you need to read some jetting stickies and experiment! its dangerous to run lean tho!
